My recollection *switching to official capacity* is that girl scout cookies are sold at times that vary by region. If all towns got girl scout cookies at the same time, the girl scout cookie infrastructure would not be able to handle it.

Sort of like what happened above. Don't ask me how the same reply posted twice. Either the hamsters are coming off the wheels or it's the darn dialup computer I'm posting from right now.

No cookies for sale here yet.

How's that spellcheck working today Koeeoaddi?

03-03-2003, 01:12 PM
Oversights are to be expected Watcher.
Please forgive me. :(

Queen SBS we beg (or should we be begging Twickster47?) for your forgiveness for Koeeoaddi's typo and for my pointing it out. :)

Thanks Twickster47 for the joke that eluded me (that's the way the cookie crumbles).

Silly Watcher -- I don't concern myself with typos, grammatical lapses, or skipped letters (well, I note them all, but hold punishment in abeyance).

Treason, moral turpitude, etc., these are the crimes I punish swiftly (but always fairly).

Dreamed I had a tyrannical father who took us on vacation, made us keep a journal and give everyone else grades. We were instructed to give him an A since we were playing blackjack and he had an A and a 10. Wha?

Xcelent word - boob. Also boobs, boobies, jugs, mellons.

You know I found out why my alphabet went stupid earlier - I was looking at the wrong page and thought the thread at the end of that page was the most recent thread (d'oh)

Zip it, zip,zip it.

03-03-2003, 07:42 PM

Fern Forest
03-03-2003, 08:34 PM
Excuse me Tripler, didn't mean to ignore your post. I was just struck by a lovely face while multi-tasking.

For sure this is the record for posts with more then twice as many as the 2nd place LotR written by someone else thread. Although that one sill holds the board record for most views.

G[/]iven that (one) two Mods have visited and not closed, or threatened to close and (two) that the thread appears to have had no ill effects on the upgraded board it seems that there is no real reason to close this thread.

[b]However there are many more interesting things to be learned from this thread. for instance there there were 192 unique posters here at last count, this helps give us some ballpark numbers as to how many active posters we have. Actually toss out 25% and the rest seem to be lurkers and/or transient posters. Too bad the reputable posters seem to be ignoring it.

If we tried to get all active posters to post here we'd have ... well we'd only have a rough esitmate of how many active posters there are over the course of 2 months ... But still interesting.

03-03-2003, 09:16 PM

Very good so far, but don't forget Starving But Strong needs a chapter with her cabana boys.

03-04-2003, 09:45 PM
Xcept wasn't it Twickster who had dibs on them?

03-04-2003, 09:45 PM
Watcher, fine by me. :) Still more violence needed....I know! How about a cabal plotting a palace coup? Am I in danger?? Of.....poisoning???

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 09:50 PM
You could always resurrect the Vowel versus Consonant battles. I remember one of them was a Cabal. And very very vicious.

03-04-2003, 09:58 PM
Slo-mo or stop action, Osiris, you perv?

03-04-2003, 10:00 PM
Zhit, I didn't realize I was at the bottom of the page.

Aall cabana boys are mine -- SBS prefers towel boys, as I recall.

Bother me not with your cabals while I'm, er, inspecting the cabana boys.

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 10:03 PM

Do it slo-mo please, and play Choral music while you're at it.

Watcher of the Skies
03-04-2003, 10:07 PM
Everybody calm down now - it's towel boys for SBS and cabana boys for Twicks.

Jeez, who could keep all this straight?

03-04-2003, 10:08 PM
Euphonium or harpsichord?

Frolicking with my cabana boys to the sweet strains of chamber music -- okey doke.

Watcher of the Skies
03-04-2003, 10:09 PM
For a real violent twist, how about all a-threaders homes being burglarized while we were all too busy posting to notice!

03-04-2003, 10:10 PM
Getting the food orders straight is more important, watcher, and you've been doing a fine job with that.

Hash browns and waffles for the cabana boys, BTW.

03-04-2003, 10:11 PM
I'm up past my bedtime -- and the cabana boys are calling. 'Night, all.

Watcher of the Skies
03-04-2003, 10:12 PM
Jeez, I've got to break this fantasy for a moment to mention that the local 11 o'clock news just went into commercial with a teaser for the next story that is even stranger than what goes on here: "stay tuned to find out if Michael Jackson really put a voodoo curse on Steven Spielberg." Yikes.

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 10:12 PM
I wonder what comes on a Cabana Split.

03-04-2003, 10:14 PM
Kind of hard to leave without answering -- that would be

Me :D

03-04-2003, 10:17 PM
Nanna koeeoaddi is going off to read now. You kids be good.

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 10:18 PM
Oh, now I see what an incredibly straight line that is, sheesh. A little pun becomes a very dirty joke.

Watcher of the Skies
03-04-2003, 10:22 PM
Please excuse this further "reality" interruption - Now here's tonight's big story: Vanity Fair magazine reports that Michael Jackson paid $150,000.00 to an African tribal chief to put a voodoo curse on 25 people on his 'enemies' list which included Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, all of whom were to die within some time period I didn't quite hear.

Truth being stranger than fiction at times...

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 10:24 PM
Qiviut is not a good Scrabble word, but it is interesting.

03-04-2003, 10:38 PM
"Reality" is over-rated, Watcher. The only use for that tidbit of "news" is that it would supply a useful 'V' word.

Fern Forest
03-04-2003, 10:39 PM
Really though when I play scrabble I use a lot of words like ut, mm, ef and sh. All the better to get 4 and 5 words at a time.

Sigh, I miss scrabble. I used to play it all the time. And I was vicious too. If you played with me you'd never get a double or triple word score. Good times.

03-04-2003, 10:40 PM
Twikster's post reminded me: the towel boys need some chow, too. Steak and eggs, I think -- lots of protein, no risk of post-carbo-loading lethargy. ;)

03-04-2003, 10:43 PM
Unlike you, I never really got into Scrabble. My favorite was Risk: conquer the world! (Yes, an early omen of my destiny.)

Where's that smilie where you click your cheek twice, wink and point at the person with both hands. My last post needs that badly.

03-04-2003, 10:48 PM
Wow! Seventy-four pages.

03-04-2003, 10:50 PM
Yes, the range of smilies offerec is sadly inadequate. Where's the evil smirk smilie?

Zones of people who have not entered this thread have very little idea how many pages we've got since the front page only lists till 5.

03-04-2003, 11:15 PM
About how many posts per page are there?

03-04-2003, 11:19 PM
B seems to be slowing down now: are the hamsters just sleepy, or is the length of this thread weighing on them?

03-04-2003, 11:20 PM
Correction: that 'b' should be 'board'. <sigh> Clearly I need to go to bed now.

03-04-2003, 11:21 PM
Definitely I must go to sleep, since I'm reduced to talking to myself.

Eleusinian rites must be performed soon.

Go on: look it up. At least it's a different word for E.

03-04-2003, 11:28 PM
Fabulous! A signal has been received from a distant galaxy! I am not alone!

(Hi, Smeghead! So we've perpetrated 3700+ posts, have we? Stellar!)

03-04-2003, 11:30 PM
Glabella. You have one. I have one. Everyone has one.

03-04-2003, 11:43 PM
Hargh! I hate being alone and at work! At this rate the name Lobsang is going to be the 'Last Post' of every damn message on this board.

Fern Forest
03-05-2003, 01:27 AM
Just my opinion that is though.

Keeping in mind the state of words on this board I can't decide if the last post will be a W or a Y.

03-05-2003, 02:07 AM
Long time it'll be before any other thread passes this one.

03-05-2003, 05:05 AM
My belief is that such a thread will never happen again.

03-05-2003, 05:07 AM
Noble ending we must plan for this thread. Something suitable, to go out on a bang.

03-05-2003, 05:12 AM
One idea I had was to devote the last 26 pages, one by one, to posts purely by one letter. As in, all posts of page 75 would start with A, all of page 76 with B, 77 C, and so forth up to page 100 being all Z.

Positively this would be more challenging with some pages than other. Page 98, all X, would be especially tricky -- or maybe boring, as we all babble about Xeroxing our Xylophone music.

03-05-2003, 05:14 AM
Quiet has fallen over the world of 'A' yet again.

03-05-2003, 05:15 AM
R now it seems like I could post the entire alphabet myself, one by one, with no need to even Preview.

03-05-2003, 05:17 AM
So much for that idea, then: page 75, and the first post doesn't start with an A.

Fern Forest
03-05-2003, 05:28 AM
Truthfully this thread will die like almost everyother thread out there, a sad ignoble one. Like I predicted we'll get to W or Y and people just wont have the motivation to go and think up yet another X or Z word and it will slip off the first page for the first time. But don't despare ye who've the majority of your posts in this thread. This board has many other threads that are fun to post in.

Unconformed opinions of movies, music and TV in Cafe Society will be much appreciated.

VValid answers are always sought in GQ.

Wise men and women try to reach concensus in GD.

Xanadu type madness is always lingering about in the Pit.

Your perfect master, Cecil, has a nice quite forum of his own.

Zany and wacky antics are always to be found here in MPSIMS.

And we never should allow ourselves to forget the comments on the staff reports.

Be aware of IMHO, the easiest forum to give input. "What color is your toenail?" I mean who can't give an answer for that?

Certain aspects of this board is what gets discussed in ATMB. Plus you should visit once a week to check on the state of affairs here.

Dear, dear thread. You've come a long way baby.

Fern Forest
03-05-2003, 05:33 AM
ELEPHANT NUTS!!! I should have said X-rated madness in the pit, sigh. Oh well.

03-05-2003, 05:42 AM
Fora aplenty, tis true. But all of them require more thought than just, now, what comes after E? Miss it, I shall.

Fern Forest
03-05-2003, 05:46 AM
Given, given, true indeed. P.S. Cecil has a nice quiet forum, sigh

03-05-2003, 06:50 AM
Hells bells.

I am sick of seeing 20 emails from this thread in my mailbox every other day. Time to unsubscribe from it.

03-05-2003, 07:06 AM
Jeez Louise, you subscribe?

Kinda nuts, don't you think?

Lots of email, but hey, it's not like you don't know we're all over here posting like caffeine-crazed capybaras.

'Mornin' everyone! Here's a wake up call for those who ordered breakfast.

*Sets up tray to be delivered to Twicks's desk precisely at 10am, with french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, and a big glass of fresh-squeezed OJ, as requested.*

*Serves up rye toast with quince jelly & scrambled eggs and a cup of tea (under a cozy is pushing it, but here you go) for SBS.*

*And this is really pushing it, but here's some hash browns and waffles for Twicks' cabana boys, and some steak and eggs for SBS' towel boys.*

Can't figure this out... Why do you guys say we're at 70 something pages, my browser says we're on the 93rd page.

03-05-2003, 08:39 AM
Can't really recall, but didn't Shaggy say that, I know he isn't a real person.

03-05-2003, 08:41 AM
Down below it indicates we are on page 75. Plus, 3722 post divided by 50 per page puts us at 74.44 pages

Doh! 94th page that is. :smack:

Evidently I'm seeing things... on my browser it says..

Pages (94): First ... 92 93 [94]

and that's an exact copy and paste.... how odd

03-05-2003, 08:47 AM
Funny, what browser are you using? I'm using IE and mine says

Pages (75): First ... 73 74 [75]

Thats a copy also

03-05-2003, 09:26 AM
God awfully weird. I'm in IE as well.

if you don't know i won't tell
03-05-2003, 09:31 AM
Happily enough, I have solved the issue. Somehow, in my changing of the user options, I had made it so I would only see 40 posts per page.

03-05-2003, 09:36 AM
Incredibly delicious breakfast, Watcher! and so promptly delivered! Thank you!

03-05-2003, 09:48 AM
Just lookin' around for swampy again. He's supposed to be back today. Where are you swampbear?

03-05-2003, 09:54 AM
Kind of hooked on the haiku thread too. Is that permitted SBS?

Where 's my coffee, Watcher? It's all I require.

03-05-2003, 09:55 AM
Killed, wasn't he? By Watcher, last night. You only got a flesh wound I believe.

03-05-2003, 10:15 AM
Looks like SBSwas right (and how could have I have doubted her?) about the deleterious effects of carbo-loading on the cabana boys --

Many tanned, muscular cuties sprawled around my office, fast asleep.

Now how exactly to I explain this to my boss?

03-05-2003, 10:45 AM
Offer her first pick of the litter?

03-05-2003, 11:00 AM
Proving once again why she is our leader, SBS easily solves my dilemma. Thanks, Your SBSness!

03-05-2003, 11:16 AM
Quite welcome, I'm sure.

Right now I've a little dilemma of my own.

Sick I am, with a nasty stomach flu.

Towel boys prove to be lousy sick room attendants.

Unfortunate, but there it is.

Volunteer willing to trade a handsome young doctor for a six-pack of muscular but weak-stomached towel boys sought.

03-05-2003, 12:09 PM
Waiting for last page
X-acted rueful patience
Zippy hamsters dead?

03-05-2003, 12:11 PM

don't even say it! :(

Zactly what he said

03-05-2003, 12:32 PM
About time for lunch

03-05-2003, 12:35 PM
And so we just ignore our queen's distress in favor of haiku?

Bounteous healing energy headed your way, Your SBSness!

Calm yourself, rebellious tummy!
