Q.E.D.

Unless sperfur wants her wallpaper to end up on the floor in a month, she won't let me do it! I'm terrible at it.

Watcher of the Skies
03-15-2003, 04:25 PM
Very good advice from koeeoaddi on wallpapering - I wholeheartedly agree. Either do it yourself as a solitary venture or have someone else do it and leave the house until it's done.

Also, if any sheet vinyl flooring is to be installed, that job is best left to a professional.

Watcher of the Skies
03-15-2003, 04:28 PM
While I can do (and have done) just about everything you could think of in a house or kitchen renovation including electrical and plumbing and building a formica counter, I will never ever try to install sheet vinyl flooring myself again. Ever.

Yelling words not fit for MPSIMS was a common occurrence when I tried my hand at evil, evil wallpaper.

Zzzzzzzt! Also almost electrocuted myself too, papering around a wall outlet.

Advised that the current was turned off. It wasn't.

sperfur

Uh, yeah. I think if Q.E.D. were actually here, we wouldn't get much wallpapering done. :D

Kill it, Jasper! Eat it! I don't know where it went! If you guys don't hear from me, call Orkin!

No insect or spider larger then a centimeter can exist in my house or I wont sleep. I've torn my house apart to find them and kill them
Oh, and you should see this 6'5" guy tip-toe to the bathroom with a large cockroach trapped in a paper towel to shove that thing in the toilet and flush it. Scares the hell out of me.
Plenty would assume my cat would help but she'll just chase them around then let them go. Only very rarely will she eat them. Where the killing spirit I ask you?

sperfur
03-15-2003, 09:10 PM
Quite a spider, this was. Jasper sat there and looked at me "What'd you call me in here for?" "Get the spider!" "I don't speak English. Can you say it in meow?"

Scared my cat off the monitor with a big guffaw, viva. Too bad there was so much revolting violence in that movie - it would have made a great Mystery Science Theater!

Fortunatelessly they seem to have concentrated all their talent into that tonight.
Going to be my Dopirthday this monday.

Kazoos and funny hats for your party, I trust, Osiris?

Let the partying begin.

Many helpful homeowner tips posted while I was gone.

Not a big wallpaper fan myself, I hired pros to strip it in this house, then just painted the walls afterward.

Of course, I didn't actually get around to painting the trim at the same time (there's a lot of it, the house was built in the '20s).

Perhaps I'll get around to it someday -- I've only been in this house 13 years.

(Quite exciting to contemplate Watcher wielding tools in a manly fashion -- you can lay my vinyl floor any time, baby!)

Unusually wonderful outside today here in eastern PA - sunny 60 degrees plus. Just took my bike out for the first ride of spring. Is it spring yet? No, I guess not officially. Just wanted to check in & say hi and good morning to all.

Especially the lovely Twicks.

Killed, the Chieftains did in their concert today. Allison Moorer was great too, singing with them. My ticket win was made even better when I picked up the tickets and discovered not only that the tickets were worth $72 each, but that they had also provided backstage passes for the after concert reception. Got to meet Paddy Moloney and the rest of the group, there was a nice spread of food too. All due to the happenstance of filling out a contest entry slip at lunchtime Friday. *Insert own luck of the Irish comment here.* Cheers.

Alas the end is coming. Be brave. Come on people. Don't you all know that to save the hamsters it is the right thing to do? Every good thing should end before it's beauty is taken for granted and left unappreciated for the marvel it was. For all time already, this will end up as the greatest thread ever. Go on, try and think of another one. Hilariously funny, and simple in its beauty. I think however it is time to face facts. Journeys are menat to end in order to be appreciated and remembered. Killing this thread is the best way to save it. Love and let go. Move on. Now is the time to sit back nad relax at a job well done. Only time away from the "a" thread will allow you to see the true beauty it posesses. Please, people. Quarantine it. Remove it so that the hamsters may once again breathe. Satisfy yourelf in knowing that you were a part of Straight Dope history. Treat this not as an ending, but as a new beginning. Understand that your contributions were wonderful, but the time has come to end it. Vigilence now is the key until a Mod comes to losk it for posterity. We must try to refrain from posting further. Xxxxxx and Ooooooos to all, lots ofhugs and kisses to everyone. You did well.

Z might be the last letter of the alphabet, and hopefully the end of this thread, but it shall live on in our hearts.
