OK, I remember reading it like 40 years ago. It was a childrens book about a boy and a phoenix, and in the end the phoenix, who was then 500 years old goes up in flames, but a new baby phoenix happily arises. I am sure interesting adventures occured as well, but that is all of the book that I remember.

David and the Phoenix (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1930900015/qid=1120150934/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/103-5662855-7044667?v=glance&s=books).

I admit, I had to look it up on Amazon -- I thought it was "Daniel and the Phoenix". Pretty close considering it's likely been 35 or 40 years since I read it.

I tried to look it up on amazon but was plugging in only phoenix so I was getting nowhere. Thanks.

I must have superior Amazon-fu. When I select books and search for Phoenix, it's the second most relevant book found.
