View Full Version : TV crushes

I've finally figured out who it is that I had a giant crush on that was mentioned in some thread a long time ago, but I couldn't think of his name, and I didn't want to go
revive a thread to say this.

John Ratzenberger (http://eur.yimg.com/i/xp/premier_photo/d/d7cdb4eb7a.jpg) is the guy! And then after I realized who it is, I noticed that this guy named Scott Kennedy (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.laughsunlimited.com/Scott ennedy.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.laughsunlimited.com/scottkennedy.html&h=519&w=350&sz=29&tbnid=fhSPT__PJe8J:&tbnh=128&tbnw=86&hl=en&start=1&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dscott%2Bkennedy%2Bcomedy%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26hs%3DbMy%26lr%3D%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN) was complaining about being single. I'm now combing the internet for his phone number so that I can remedy that situation.

So I suppose this thread is to vocalize crushes you have on obscure TV personalities.

Well, she's not exactly obscure, but I'm currently in love with Katie Couric.

Are we talking actors or their roles? Because all my television crushes are more on the character than the person playing them. If the latter, mine are..

1. Willow Rosenberg as played by Alyson Hannigan
2. Xander Harris as played by Nicholas Brendon
3. Hoban Washburn as played by Alan Tudyk

..and while they're not particularly obscure considering the bent of this board, they are cultish to the population at large.

The particularly astute might even notice a pattern.

TV crushes?

Man, so many really rude jokes I could go with...

In two totally different directions...

Instead, I'll give a real answer: that Mercury girl. You know... the girl in the Mercury ads? The ads selling Mercury vehicles, that tall, nice looking spokeswoman...?

She's hot.

Richard Engel, NBC correspondent in Baghdad. Fluent in Arabic, graduate of Stanford, perfectly coiffed and ironed at all times, looks fab in bullet proof vest.

Still waiting for Michael Vartan's phone call, now that he has some spare time.

The more obscure ones... hmmm... I've several "main character" ones (Chandler from Friends being perhaps forefront), but...

Norman (David Garrison) from It's Your Move (and of course Jason Bateman from any show)

Almanzo from Little House on the Prairie (one of TV's all time great booties- big, firm, very spankable with a CB Antenna)

Mr. Roark from Fantasy Island (Ricardo, not Malcolm)

Jon from CHIPS (Estrada always struck me as vain and sleazy, but Jon seemed like the nice guy who'd be really hot in private)

Bernard (Chris's black half-brother) from Northern Exposure

Oh, I like him, too! I'm always trying to convince my son to watch Animal Planet so I have an excuse to see him.

When I was a kid I had a huge crush on Paul Michael Glaser, specifically as Starsky from Starsky and Hutch.

I had a huge crush on tv's Batman, Adam West. My aunt's mother managed to get an autographed photo of him and I had it with me every night when I watched the show. These were the reruns in the 70's. I was born in '69.

I also had a huge crush on Steve "Deitrich" Landesburg from Barney Miller. Oh, and Erick Estrada! And who can forget John Schneider as Bo Duke?

If cartoons count then Speed Racer and Hank from D&D are on my list.

Of course when I was very little I had a mad crush on one of the main characters on The Lone Ranger. Yup. I wanted to marry...Silver. :smack: What can I say? Little girls like horses.

I was a twisted child...

The guy who plays Sayid on Lost.

I'm a faithful viewer from the beginning, but I pay no attention to the credits so I don't know any of these characters real names.

And I have never seen him anywhere but on the show, so I have no clue if he's hot in real life. It may be just the shirtless sweaty version I see on the show that does it for me.

In my more twinkophile moments, the guy who played David (Johnny Galecki) on Roseanne is quite somebody I'd like to have scrubbed and sent to my chambers. Of course on the subject of twinks, the orgy possibilities of the last season of Boy Meets World are endless- I'm guessing that by then the core audience was 50% gay male.

for me it didn't matterthe character they played - it was the actor:
at various times over the last 25 years and for varying durations (in no particular order)
Scott Bakula
John Ritter
Alton Brown
Mike Farrell
John Corbett
Kelsey Grammar
David Hyde Pierce
Nicholas Brendon
Harry Anderson
Noah Wylie
Anthony Edwards
James Spader
the list goes on and on but I think that's enough for now

Another dirty old man here.

I would definitely want to go to band camp with Alyson Hannigan. The most unrealistic aspect of "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" wasn't the vampire stuff, but the fact that Band Camp Girl was supposed to be the wallflower best friend while Sara Michelle Skeletor was the "hot" one.

Another TV wallflower I find hot is that little black doctor on "Gray's Anatomy."Great eyes, great smile; I never was attracted to skinny model types anyway.

Among older women, definitely Kathy Bates from "6 Feet Under". Actually, the Fisher Mom ain't half bad in that one, either. "Daughter"Claire looked better in the earlier seasons when her face was chubby-cheeked( kinda gaunt this last season IMO).

On the"Sopranos", definitely Jackie Aprile's widow.

James Lunday (http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/inafix/bio/bio_09.html) from In a Fix. He has those nice thick arms and a little pudge around the belly. The best episodes were when the crew pranked him and he had to change his shirt on camera. Oh, and he seemed to have a nice personality too. ;) I think he may have had to go back Down Under.

And I can't remember her name, but the Indian woman with the British accent who used to be on ITN News--I don't see her in their correspondent roster.

Although they're a bit scrawnier than what I usually dig:

1) Marin Hinkle-- Alan's ex-wife of "Two and a Half Men". Though I do agree with another poster that the girl who plays Rose on that show is THE hottie on that one. Actually "Judith" and "Rose" are both hotter than most of the bimbo-of-the-week chicks the "Charlie" character beds down with ,IMO.

2) Jami Gertz-- the mom on "Still Standing".

I'm developing a very serious thing for Arthur Ramsey (played by Peter Dinklage) on Threshold. My husband actually likes the show, but it drives me up a freakin' wall with the Bad ScienceTM. The hubby says I just don't know enough about linguistics to be offended by Ramsey's technobabble, so that's why I like the character.

And I was overjoyed to see that William Fitchner has a leading role in Invasion, as I am a long-time fan of his. The fact that he's just so damn macho on Invasion is driving me wild. ROWRR!

And, uh, I got into Grissom post-beard. Facial hair sometimes has a strange effect on me.

Now, I think Mariska Hargitay (Detective Olivia Benson) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002127/) from L&O SVU, Elisabeth Röhm (Asst. Dist. Atty. Serena Southerlyn ) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0737533/) from Law & Order, and Fox & Friends Juliet Huddy & Lauren Green are smokin' hot.

I think this thread should be declared NSFK (not safe for kittens) ;)

I must have a thing for Indian women... they are very beautiful and have great accents.
I totally agree. But for beautiful women from India, you can't top Aishwarya (http://sapatosvermelhos.no.sapo.pt/Aishwarya%20Rai.JPG) Rai (http://fanclub.aishwaryaworld.com/images/wallpapers/wp-1.jpg).

However, the all-time top on my list is Helen Hunt (http://www.hissandpop.com/celebrities/h/helenhunt/photos/helen-hunt-020.jpg), especially as her character on Mad About You. No woman has ever looked better in a simple white t-shirt.

Well, the only ones that I've ever seen he just provided voices for.

Cheers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083399/) was only on for a decade, I can undertsand how you missed it ;)

Let's see... there's Kari Byron (http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/meet/meet_04.html), from Mythbusters. Geeks with senses of humor are HOT.

I'm blocking on an old one: A PBS show, nominally about a Outward Bound style trip on a schooner or sloop. I think it was "The Voyage of the..." And can't recall the name, nor the actress' name. So.. just the young woman on that show. Whom, while she played a minor was at least 19-21 at the time, so it wasn't as skeevy as it might sound. :smack:

If we start allowing animated characters... I'm doomed.

For me, it's all about Buffy's Willow Rosenberg, the cute, brainy, redheaded, bisexual Jewish Wiccan played by Alyson Hannigan. I also dig Winifred "Fred" Burkle from Angel, played by Amy Acker.Oh my gosh, yes with the Amy Acker. They tried to mess her up at first, but you couldn't hide that face with anything less than a full bag over the head.

Another one-Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005025/) from Monk.

Are you seriously calling Cliff Clavin a obscure dude? I'm flabbergasted!

Me? I wouldn't call it a crush....I'm madly in love with Krista (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/2908/Events/2908/KristaAlle_Mazur_4727399_400.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Allen,%20Krista) Allen (http://krista-allen.com/ipw-web/gallery/exclusivephotos/CAE7SHUJ)

Someone alert Joss Whedon -- she's perfect for Wonder Woman!

Okay, I have an obscure one - foodie related; Ming Tsai. (http://www.ming.com/) I used to watch his show all the time and picture myself sitting down with him to taste his dishes. ;)

Strange. Based on previous SDMB discussions, I though Bailey Quarters (http://www.geocities.com/johnnyt84047/jan-smithers-ows-1.html) would surely have been mentioned by now.

I join the group of CSI Vegas hottie worshipers. Especially George Eads. When he calls someone "m'aam", I melt. When he gets a little cranky at Eckley or Grissom, I love it. All those guys are hot. William Petersen - mmmmm. Even little Eric whatshisname has grown into a fine looking man. That just has to be one of the best looking casts of players on TV. The women are hot, too. That one lady who occasionally comes on to reconstruct a face so they can ID a body - yikes, she and Grissom need to just DO IT right now. Sexual tension to the max.

Believe it or not, there were times I thought how it would be to bounce bedsprings with Ellenor Frutt. THAT would be a ride.

More innocent crushes of my youth: the obvious Mary Ann Summers, marooned in the South Pacific. And of course Honey West... when she'd be tied up somewhere by the bad guys... oh, my!

Oh geez.

I had a thing for older men (well, still do, actually):

I was madly in love with:

(I can't believe I'm going to admit this) Bob Crane from Hogan's Heroes.

Almanzo from Little House on the Prairie.

The Professor from Gilligan's Island.

I was a weird kid. Not much has changed.

And I can't remember her name, but the Indian woman with the British accent who used to be on ITN News--I don't see her in their correspondent roster.

Daljit Dhaliwal (http://zapatopi.net/daljit/)? I can't read her name without thinking of David Letterman's singing it to the tune of Feliz Navidad.

OtakuLoki: Sounds as if the show you're thinking of is The Voyage of the Mimi (http://www.tv.com/the-voyage-of-the-mimi/show/23906/summary.html&full_summary=1).

Oh, yeah. Gil Gerard was man-perfect. I also had the hotties for Wonder Woman's co-star, Steve Trevor, played by Lyle Waggoner. Ooh, la la!

Wile E mentioning food crushes reminded me of a very important one: Giada (http://www.televisionsound.com/images/giada_de_laurentiis_02.jpg) de Laurentiis (http://www.serafinaseattle.com/menus/images/giadadelaurentiis.jpg). A woman who looks like that and cooks like that? I'd be dead in a year!

I recently realized that this year marks the 30th anniversary of my crush on Alan Alda (http://usuarios.lycos.es/quierocine/alanalda/alda_alan.jpg).

Other major ones:

Mark Harmon (http://imagecache2.allposters.com/IMAGES/MMPH/259777.jpg)
Stephen Collins (http://www.7th-heaven.awp.waw.pl/foto/eric/eric01.jpg)
Miguel Ferrer (http://crossingjordanfan78.tripod.com/Photos/MiguelFerr_Ausse_545645_400.jpg)

There was a time when I wanted to marry Bill Maher (http://www.metroactive.com/papers/cruz/04.06.05/gifs/maher-0514.jpg), but I snapped out of it.

My very first childhood T.V. crush was on Richard Long of Nanny and the Professor.

Does Mickey Dolenz (especially with the 'fro) count?, if so, also add Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork. but not Davey Jones, he was too pretty, too unattainable
