I saw in the paper today that Tim Burton's doing Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I don't watch TV and haven't been to the movies lately, so I haven't seen any previews. It's got Johnny Depp (woohoo!). Should be out just before Christmas.
Those who have seen the previews, does it look good? Anyone as excited as I am?
I've never seen the play (musical?) but I do have a book on Sweeney Todd, and I am thouroughly excited about this.

It's not my favorite musical by a long stretch and Tim Burton can be the world's most annoying successful director, but I feel obligated to see any musical in order to keep them making more.
That said, the official trailer 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X93rZXQVGkg) looks appropriately Gothic. You hear a bit of Depp singing in Trailer 2. (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809834155/video/) Plus, seeing Pepe LePew cut Borat's throat is worth at least a couple of dollars.

And Anthony "Giles" Head is one of the ballad ghosts.

Well, if they're using Sondheim's score, at least the music will be an order of magnitude better than Danny Elfman.
