Bruce Cambell, I Love To See You In a Movie, But You Can NOT Act.

James Remar, I Love To See You In a Movie, But You Can NOT Act.

Elliot Gould, I Love To See You In a Movie, But You Can NOT Act.

Treat Williams, I Love To See You In a Movie, But You Can NOT Act.

Any More? Any good reasons as to why people seem to like particular bad actors? Or how these people keep getting work?

Hayden Christensen, I love to see you in a movie, but you cannot act your way out of a paper bag. (You were surprising in Shattered Glass, though.)

Jessica Alba- I want to see you naked in a movie, but you can't act.

Bruce Cambell, I Love To See You In a Movie, But You Can NOT Act.

Hey, Bruce Campbell is a great actor! He just does physical comedy better than anything else. :p

Charles Bronson
Clint Eastwood, up to and including Firefox. After that, he got pretty good at playing cantankerous old people. Does that actually count as acting, though?

REally? I thought it was just an average Woody Allen impression. YMMV, I guess....

Bruce Campbell, I do not want to see you in a movie; I want to see you every week in Burn Notice.

James Franco, I love to see you in a movie (especially Sonny) but while you can act you inexplicably usually choose not to.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
But I guess there's a whole series of people in the group of 'not even theoretically an actor but their appearance in a movie added something', so it's probably not worth listing them all.

I mix these (http://imagecache2.allposters.com/IMAGES/MMPH/258960.jpg) non actors up (http://obsessmuch.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/james-franco-2.png?w=642&h=910)

Zooey Deshanel. She is a pretty girl who comes from a film family. But goddess bless her, she has the range of a jelly donut.

I disagree with some of these (have you seen Bruce Campbell in Bubba-Ho-Tep?), but the story that stands out in my mind I can't recall where I read this, but apparently Leo Gorcey, best known as "Spit" in Dead End and as a Dead End Kid/East Side Kid/Bowery Boy after that was acting in some film (Out of the Fog?) and was called aside by the director, who chewed him out because he "couldn't act".

If true, it's a shame, because in Dead End and the early film he could act. Maybe it was a bad day, or a bad set of circumstances.

I disagree with Elliott Gould and Treat Williams.

Gould was terrific in M*A*S*H and Bugsy. Williams showed range in the widely different roles he played in The Late Shift and Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead.

I really don't think he was surprising in Shattered Glass. He acted exactly the same way he acted in Star Wars: whiny. Only in Shattered Glass, he was supposed to be acting whiny, so it worked.

Bill Paxton, My Heart Leaps With Joy To See You Show up in a Movie, But Man... You Can NOT Act.

Unless every director you've ever worked with has asked you to act like Bill Paxton.

Ok, I'll give you Near Dark, but thats it.

Almost all the people named are, in fact, competent professional actors. Is this a joke thread?

Carroll "Baby Doll" Baker (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/MackMcCoy/sub1/baker131cb.jpg). Exquisitely fragile and ethereal Southern belle with a voice like vanilla frosting and about as much emotional range.

I was going to say Michael Madsen because his acting was so atrocious in Sin City, but I seem to recall he was pretty good in Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs, though he may have only had to play himself in those roles.

Jenna Jameson?

ETA: What?On that note, Ginger Lynn and Francesca Le. Two adult film actresses (from back in the eighties and nineties). Both really good looking women so I'd watch their movies. But as actresses? They were bad even by standards of porno acting.

Such an assessment is only to be expected from a Baldwin.

Zsa Zsa Gabor: I love it whenever you pop up in one of those old movies made in the 50s or 60s, but you can NOT act. (And, although Bernhardt need not spin in her grave, you did not suck at all in Lili or Moulin Rouge.)

Seconding Scarlett , she is really pretty but the movies I have seen her in including Lost In Translation. I am not impressed.
John Wayne was just not a very good actor but I love almost every movie he was in.

Not trying to be snarky at all, just trying to understand. How can you enjoy someone in a movie if she can't act. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the original question.

Great movie!

I'd say current Bruce Campbell is a decent actor. But, Evil Dead 1 Bruce Campbell? Not so much. I read his autobiography (If Chins Could Kill) and they (Bruce and the Raimi bros) weren't happy with his ability to act like he was in pain. So, they resorted to poking him with a sharp stick off camera to get him to make the right facial expressions.

It's a good read if you're a fan.

The only way the OP makes sense to me is if you're using it to describe people who truly aren't actors, but have been in movies.

Shaq, I love to see you in a movie, but you can not act.

This is the one I was thinking of. I love to see him in movies...particularly if he's half-naked and silent.
