We watched it the other day. We were mostly laughing at it. It was just so ridiculous.

And I thought it was weird that they never acknowledged the fact that 6 billion people just died.

It's gotta be. I just googled the plot:

In 2009, American geologist Adrian Helmsley learns that neutrinos from a massive solar flare are causing the temperature of the Earth's core to increase rapidly. Adrian informs White House Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser and United States President Thomas Wilson that this will trigger a catastrophic chain of natural disasters.

I thought it was played for over-the-top action and laughs. I enjoyed it immensely. I'm glad they glossed over the Mayan connection and focused on over-the-top destruction and craziness.

When I watched it, I was thinking, "So why did they make this a movie and not a Universal Studios motion ride? Because that would be freaking awesome."

I have found the perfect video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM140W-uWqo) for this thread.
