View Full Version : My low percentage prediction -- NBC will fire Lawrence O'Donnell tomorrow

On tonight's show he trashed Donald Trump for the umpteenth time, and trashed NBC for letting him "hide behind" the network because of his apprentice show.

I think Trump will bluster to someone at the network, they will look at the tape and decide it is some from of disloyalty or insubordination, and fire O'Donnell.

Actually, I think this is fairly unlikely, but if it DOES happen, you heard it here first.

For those who may have missed it, O'Donnell's specific charges were a) that NBC's entertainment division is enabling a racist (Trump); and b) if The Apprentice has been renewed for another season, info the entertainment division apparently knows but has refused to release, this would be a clear indication that Trump is not serious about running for President. O'Donnell was therefore accusing NBC entertainment execs of covering up a legitimate news story.

O'Donnell's even-more-bombastic-than Olbermann style is not really my cup of tea, but at least on b), I think he has a solid point. I'd be surprised indeed if he gets canned for last night's statements, however.

Sounds like he's right to me- not that they can't fire him if he's right.

[Moddng] I realize this is about both TV and politics, but I think it may do better in Cafe Society, so I'm moving it. [/Modding]

Doesn't really matter to me if it "does better", I just wanted to get the prediction on record. That way I can crow about it if I'm right or pretend it never happened if I'm wrong.

So.....that must mean you are running for President!

I'm at least as qualified as Trump, and I have much better hair.

Where's the Birth Certificate for the tribble clinging to Trump's noggin?

Where's the Birth Certificate for the tribble clinging to Trump's noggin?Well a tribble's an alien, and what's on his head should most certainly be illegal...

Only marginally on topic, but I LOVED this Onion headline (http://www.theonion.com/articles/trump-unable-to-produce-certificate-proving-hes-no,20250/)!

I can't watch O'Donnell because he looks way too smug after he makes a point.

Sometimes he's right, but most of the time it's not something so intelligent that you have to take a moment and look so happy with yourself.

Why can't trump run for President and do the Apprentice?

Equal Time regulations.

Who doesn't?

Uncle Fester.

Then again, I've never seen the two of them together.

It'd pretty much tank any claims NBC could make about being impartial during the race, for one thing.

Explain...

Being that the airwaves are owned by the people, the FCC says that if a broadcast network gives broadcast time to one political candidate they must give (or at least offer) the same amount of time to his opponent(s). Even if the first guy is not doing anything political with his air time, such as hosting his own reality show or being a character in a show such as Fred Thompson on Law & Order.

NBC can't give an hour a week to a Republican nominee without giving up hours to all the other candidates.

For my money (and I don't watch The Apprentice), I would love if one or more of the celebrities would tell Trump to shove it up his ass in regards to stating that he would fire anyone that wouldn't vote for him for President, and walk out during the finale. (As I assume everything else has already been shot)

The guest host this evening said Lawrence would be back Monday.
