View Full Version : Chico the Talking Head

My fiance and his two brothers were telling me one day about a PBS show called "Chico the talking Head." They said it was about (what else?) a talking head from Puerto Rico named Chico. They remember Chico having such adventures as:
The head rolling down a hill
Trying to find goat's milk
Being carried around on a motorcycle
in a basket
I have no idea what they are talking about. We grew up in the same neighborhood (on the same block, in fact), so it's not like I didn't get the same channels he did. His sister-in-law and I think that their family had some sort of mass hallucination happening (his mom remembers the show as well).
So, has anyone ever seen the elusive "Chico"? If it helps, it may have been a Chicago-based local show.

I grew up partway in Chicago and I've never heard of this. Was it a kids show? Of course, there's stuff I remember that my brother and sister think I'm hallucinating, and I know they were sitting right there next to me.

AAAAK! I remember the head in the box! Wasn't it an episode of Once Upon A Classic with Bill Bixby?

"On the edge of sleep, I awoke to a sun so bright..."

Mekka-lekka-hi, mekka-hiney-ho? :)
Honestly, that's the only talking head that I remember from that era.

Sounds like something from the Itchy and Scratchy cartoon on the Simpsons.

I remember something a lot like that on SNL, I think. Wasn't it a talking head that solved crimes?

There was a series of sketches about "The Head Detective" on In Living Color. I think Damon Wayons was the head.

It was Chico the Rainmaker......he/it was a shrunken head called Chico (duh!) who/that could talk, and make rain (bigger duh!). They used to show it in the UK around the late 70's to early 80's. I remember the theme tune, but not all of the theme words....it went something like this-

Chico, Chico the rainmaker
Chico, Chico the rainmaker
Chico, Chico the rainmaker
Chico ???? ???? ????? makes the rain.

I've never seen a bigger pile of televised crap in all my life. I'd actually forgotten about it until i read this thread- shame on you for opening up old wounds!!! What's my therapists number?

How the heck did you find a half-decade old thread to resurrect without the ability to search the archives?

(It's generally frowned upon (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=106617) to bump old threads, by the way.)What if I want to continue / add to the discussion on a topic that was mentioned in an old thread?
Start a new thread with a link to the old thread. A general guideline for "old" would be a thread older than three months.Cheers.

At a wild guess, have Mike's preferences got screwed up so that he is reading the forum in reverse date order (oldest first)?
