Would someone be good enough to tell me how to quote another user?

You hit the little "Quote" icon at the bottom of the post you want to quote. No biggie.

You can even edit the quote, if you are only interested in part of the post.

Ah, yes, cunningly hidden in plain sight.

Slaps forehead.

Thanks for your help.

Also, check this (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/index.php?action=bbcode) out.

It's pretty helpful.

And easy to find. At the bottom of the page when you come into a Forum and at the top of the page when you submit a post, there are smilies (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/index.php?action=showsmilies) and vB code (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/index.php?action=bbcode).

If you pull a "quote" on this post, you can see how to make a word a link. (It's the whole *url="yadda yadda" /url* thing. With square brackets.)

Fun with coding. Wear proper safety equipment.
