Netflix: The Family

I've just started watching it. It's pretty disturbing.

I friend of mine just recommended it. I haven't started it yet. Not 100% sure I want to. Does it seem credible or just some more wild conspiracy stuff (which we need right now like a hole in the head)?

My wife and I started watching it last night and it seems to tiptoe between credibility and wild conspiracy.

I think there's genuine cause for concern, but the producers did a piss poor job of explaining what The Family is actually up to.

BTW: I watched "The great Hack", "PSYOPS", and "The Family" (on Netflix) all with in a couple of weeks.

I am now thoroughly convinced we are FUCKED as a species. The whole democratic process is just a joke as far as I'm concerned.

I just watched the first episode. They have plenty of photographs/videos to backup what they're saying. However, documentaries like this, where it's half interviews with the original people and half actors remaking what's being told, always feel like they're not 100% true, kind of like Wild Wild Country.
But, similar to Wild Wild Country, you can easily look up what they're talking about and verify it for yourself. It's not that these are big secrets (both The Family and WWC), just that you didn't know about them. In this case, it might feel a little CTish only because it involves politics and the church stuff that us normal people aren't really privy to.

Anyways, I'll watch at least the second episode and see how drawn into it I get. I didn't feel the need to start the next episode as soon at the first one was done, and for me, that tends to be a sign I won't make it all the way through.

I read the book last winter, and it's good, though it gets a bit slow in places. Sharlet's a well-respected researcher. The Netflix version should be a good deal more accessible for people who don't get into serious nonfiction reads.
