DIP Recipes
Would love y'all to post your favorite dip recipes. I plan on making 3-4 dips for Thanksgiving and I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I only make two dips: Velveeta and hot Rotel's in a crock pot, and Lipton Onion Soup Mix and sour cream. Not really a dip person. But anyway, there are the two 'you can't mess it up' ones.

Sour cream, mayo, a packet of Lipton onion soup mix, as much horseradish and crumbled bacon as you want.

Make sure you let it sit in the fridge to blend the flavors. Serve with pretzels.

I love a good dill dip. Don't know how to make it, but I enjoy it! Especially if it's in a hollowed-out bread bowl.

I also had an awesome guacamole recently, which was loaded with pomegranate seeds! Might not sound like a good combo, but it was great.

It depends a lot on your location and budget, but my go-to dip for entertaining is hot crab dip. Where I am located the crab would be Dungeness, but East coast blue crab would work just as well I am sure.

Except for getting the actual crab for the dip it is simple. Some softened cream cheese, sour cream, maybe a bit of mayo, garlic, some diced onions, and whatever seasonings you prefer.

Mix all together except the crab, fold that in last. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top and bake it in a bowl or ideally several individual ramekins.

Serve with small rounds of toasted baguette. Small rounds because the dip will last a few seconds longer.

Your guests will love it and you will find yourself asking, "Hey, were did my 50 bucks go?? I only got one bite."

Something like this, except you had better increase the recipe amount or you will have a revolt or family incident on your hands.

I would imagine the secret is fresh dillweed. Probably a sour cream/mayo base.

Anyone remember the olden days when there was a "clam dip" that came in a refrigerated tub (like cream-cheese or sour cream currently does)? I'd love a copycat recipie for that.

The closest I come to making dip is after making a pot of chili typically the second or third day I'll throw a block of velvita in to to make chili cheese dip - great with fritos.

A lot of great suggestions. Dill dip is one of my favorites so that will be one I make for sure. I do have access to fresh crab living so near the ocean so that's a great idea. Don't know why I hadn't thought of that.

How about a cheese ball? Use a red onion instead of green onions and you'll end up something close to what one of my sisters brings to every holiday party.

Take a tub of greek yogurt, mix Hidden Valley Spicy Ranch mix into it and eat with carrots.

A relatively healthy snack that tastes good and has a bit of bite to it!

Mix curry powder into mayonnaise until it tastes good to you or someone who likes curry if you don't. Use for veggies.

This recipe for Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip has always been a favorite whenever I make it.

I use fresh diced garlic instead of the garlic salt though, and I usually use wilted baby spinach instead of the frozen.....I hate draining frozen spinach

I used to make a dip made with canned shrimp, that was downright tasty. I don't remember the exact amounts, but this should get you close:

1 cup mayo
1 small tub cream cheese
1 can shrimp
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (note; teaspoon, not tablespoon)
a shake or two garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste

Combine the mayo and cream cheese, and mix, preferably using a mixer. Less chunks that way.
Add the rest except the shrimp, mix some more.
Drain the shrimp, and crush with a fork (unless you like the bigger chunks. I don't) mix it in.

The main ones I can't remember the exact proportions for are the ketchup and wooster sauce. You might have to play around to taste with those ones.

I was a huge fan of Babylon 5, and learned there about a hot oil dip called bagna cauda. Security Chief Michael Garibaldi made it for his birthday, in memory of his father. It's a northern Italian dip, from the Piedmont region he said.

You really have to like strong flavors, but I adore it.

Warm gently, in the top of a double boiler, equal amounts of butter and olive oil. Say, eight ounces of each. Then add finely minced garlic. The amount can vary, depending on what you like, but I've used at least six cloves. Just before you are ready to serve, stir in, breaking it up, a two ounce tin of anchovies. Keep this mix warm in a fondue pot. You dip chunks of fresh bread and crisp veggies in it. Pieces of bell pepper, tomato, baby carrots, whatever you like.

When this mix cools it sets up, but is still soft enough to spread on fresh Italian bread, and toast in the oven like garlic bread.

Dr. Franklin, on being invited to share this dish with Mr. Garibaldi, looked at it dubiously and said "I can feel my arteries hardening just being in the same room with it." But he ended up really liking it.

Following up on Sir T-Cups's recommendation, pretty much any standard sour-cream-and-soup-mix dip is very good, and a lot healthier, with plain lowfat yogurt substituted for part or all of the sour cream.

An Indian-style "raita"-type dip is plain lowfat yogurt with salt, ground cumin, lemon juice, fresh chopped cilantro, a little chili powder, and minced onions/cucumbers/tomatoes/whatever mixed in. Delish on bread or crackers.

Not a "made" dip, but a company called Lakeview Farms produced a Chipotle Ranch dip that was great. Spicy, but not overly so, and a great flavor.

Local Walmart had it, but it must have been a one-time purchase, 'cause they quit carrying it. :(

i make a dip from a tub of sour cream and add all the spices that you use for Taco meat. Chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, hot red pepper flakes and a dash of oregano. keep mixing them in until it tastes the way you like it. Refrigerate, and then serve with tortilla chips.

I just open a can of refried beans and stir in some Tabasco sauce. I've tried other things also stirred in, but nothing makes them better.

Too late for Halloween...
Prepare an expandable ('leaf') table by cutting a 2" to 4" circular hole in the middle, depending on the size of the 'dip bowl'. Spread the halves of the table slightly.

Insert a small monkey into the gap in the table, and close the table such that the hole in the middle goes around the monkey's neck, holding it securely.

Remove the monkey's scalp, then remove the top of the skull with a Dremel saw, being careful the monkey does not lose consciousness.

Dip brains with chips.

C'mon guacamole is the best.

Mash avocados. Add chopped peppers (I just use a can of drained chopped jalapenos and add a smidge of the juice), chopped onion, chopped tomato, and lemon juice to keep it from turning brown. Salt, if you wish, though if you're using chips you don't need the salt.

Mrs. L.A. insists on pretty much naked guacamole. I think she uses a little garlic powder, but that's it. She likes to 'taste the avocado'. I like it her way, but if I were making it for myself I'd add jalapeños.
