Apple has only a 14 day return policy

I guess it doesn't matter since all their stuff is perfect right. How could worm food Jobs make something bad? After all he was better than Jesus, Buddha, and Mohammed combined. In fact Jobs was so smart he did not even need doctors to treat his cancer. Guess he bet wrong on that.

Most places have 30 day, some are 60 days. REI has 1 year.

Some places (like WalMart and Best Buy) that have a 30 day return policy on most items actually have a 15 day return policy on computers. Of course, a more generous return policy would be nicer, but Apple's isn't as out-of-touch with the rest of the industry as you seem to be implying.

I've returned an Apple laptop after forty days. I didn't expect the store to take it back, but they did. I mean, I was clearly going to buy a better laptop immediately from them, so they had incentive, but still. Apple Los Gatos, good store.

Amazon has 30 days for everything as far as I know including computers. Dell and Lenovo are also 30 days.

BTW saying the policy is the same as WalMart and BestBuy is not a positive thing.

I've walked into an Apple store three different times, each time expecting to be disappointed. All three interactions were exceptionally positive. Apple rocks.

they refunded my money in 2 days after they got the phone. I give them props for that.

As compared to ticketbastard who says I have to wait at least 30 days for a refund of NHL tickets and concert tickets.

Our Apple store closed up tight when the health department closed the bars and restaurants. The restaurants are slowly opening, and the bars will start opening on Monday. One could only hope that retail will come back eventually

I'm constantly amazed at what seem to be ridiculously generous return policies some places have, especially when it's a case of "I changed my mind, but I don't have my receipt" as opposed to "This item broke after only 3 weeks." The whole mindset of bending over backwards to please customers seems to promote abuse, which costs everyone in the end.

I don't pretend to be typical, but I'm pretty sure if I hated my phone, I'd have figured it out within a few days. But what do I know - I have no business education or experience with customer service or marketing or retail or any of that.

this phone was returned because it would not work on Boost mobile.

For a long time REI had a lifetime return policy no questions asked and it was abused so now it's a year. Since Amazon has 30 days a lot of places have matched that but not Apple.

The OP reads like a rant. I was surprised to see that this wasn't in the BBQ Pit.

Serious question, out of curiosity: What's the problem with a 14-day return policy? What's the justification for it being longer than that?

Many places have 30 days including major PC companies like Lenovo. Since Apple thinks their crap don't stink not surprised they only have 14 days.

But that doesn't answer my question of why 14 days isn't enough.

It's a good thing nobody is forcing you to buy their products.

Would you use every portion of hard disk memory in 14 days? What if a third of it wsa bad sectors?

I thought a return policy was different from a warranty. Can you return it after 14 days if it turns out to be defective?

Would increasing it another 15 days help with that scenario?

Did he end up hating it between Day 15 and 30?

You are confused.
Apple has a 1-year warranty one defective components.
Thatís unrelated to their 14-day ďI donít like the color, so Iím going to return it and get my money backĒ policy.

As is Beowulf and others, I'm also confused by your outrage.

The policy you're railing over is for a used product someone just arbitrarily decided they didn't want, this isn't a defective product. That seems very reasonable. If it's a gift, you should know within 14 days of the purchase if the colour or specs were not right or if the gift was not wanted. If it's not a gift why did you buy it and why would you wait 14 days to return it?

I bought my wife headphones at the Apple Store last year and when they told about the policy I made sure I purchased them a week before her birthday and then told her we had 7 days to return them if they weren't exactly what she wanted. No biggie, no reason for outrage.

Defective is for 1 year or if you get AppleCare (which I recommend) there is two years full replacement for any reason, plus unlimited Apple care phone support for 2 years (and they are truly saints in this regard.)

My daughter dropped her 20 month iPhone on the road while running across the street and it was crushed flat by a car. Apple store: "No worries, here's a brand new one. Give us 30 minutes to salvage your old data and port it over for you." No charge.

As other have said, my dealings with Apple have by and large be fabulous.
