If my congressman, Tim Burchett, got knocked off I would be thrilled. Lamar Alexander isn't running for his seat and the R frontrunner right now seems to be Bill Hagerty. Hagerty is super Trumpy and currently enjoys the ambassadorship to Japan as a result. I'm waiting for someone worse like Diane Black or Scott Desjarlais to go for it. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of strong Dem candidates for statewide office and, even when we do like Bredesen in 2018, they get stomped. Sigh.

Meadows represents the district I was gerrymandered into. This district used to be fairly competitive, and we were represented by a moderate/conservative Democrat as recently as 2013.

With the court's ruling that NC should probably maybe de-gerrymander its congressional districts, the district could become competitive again, and that could endanger Meadows.

Make no mistake: it's a long shot. But in 2020 we shoot for the moon.

If both Trump and Mitch McConnell got deposed next year, my earthly prayers would be answered and I would have no remaining task but to prepare my body for oblivion.

That seems pretty obvious, so I'd like to add that I would enjoy seeing Matt Gaetz get eaten by a giant sandworm.

I don't think elections alone matter anymore. We're in a battle for the soul and the identity of the nation.

I've tried to explain and educate, but I understand that this is too complex.

Yes: when everyone disagrees with you, the problem is almost certainly that you're too brilliant for everyone. Your pearls are wasted before us swine.

Since no one has mention ed him yet... Colorado Senator Cory Gardner.

He is, I think, the easiest D senate pick up. If we don't knock him off, we're fucked.

Mitch is obviously first in line behind Trump, but after listening to today's testimony, Nunes is a very close third. If anyone ever deserved a swift kick in the nuts its him.

I regret that as an Ohio resident I cannot vote against Senator Rob Portman until 2022.

That being the case in 2020 I will have to content myself with voting against my rotten Republican, jointly owned by NRA & American Legislative Exchange Council, state representative Gayle L. Manning. She and her equally rotten son, Nathan Manning, have taken to trading Ohio state house and state senate seats between themselves to finagle around term limits. I hope to throw out Nathan along with Portman in 2022.

I'll have to wait 'til 2022, but I can't wait to vote against Jim Banks again. Not that it'll make any difference - the only way he's getting voted out is if he gets primaried. Which'll never happen unless he grows some pride and stops licking Trump's spittle.

(Personal anecdote: I went to high school with Banks, and for all he talks about how disadvantaged he was growing up, I can attest that he was that kid who had his own cell phone in the mid '90s.)
