Shit, that sucks. I've got a friend going through cancer now. It's a long, rough trek. I hope your daughter does well, and you're in my thoughts.
If you want to post details, or just vent, people here will listen. Of course, you may not want to, which is fine. |

Still processing. This is the girl who lives 1300 miles away. She's on the phone now filling her mother and me in.
Consultation on Monday to develop a treatment plan.

This isn't my first rodeo.
Six years ago I posted something similar for my Wife's breast cancer and double mastectomy. I just spent an hour talking comic book shit with my girl.

Jeezus.
This is my girl. She is my cosplaying geek girl. We can talk comic book trivia for hours. She has been fighting a weight issue for years. She is engaged to an absolutely incredible man, scheduled to get married next October. Fuck Cancer.

Drinking whiskey and crying in my chair. No young woman deserves to go through cancer treatments.

As someone currently going through it, I heartily agree ... and I hope for positive results. If you need a shoulder to cry on or chew on, pm me. I have food ideas, helpful living tips and whatnot if she/you/anybody are interested.
That being said, everybody's path is different and not everything works for everybody and not everybody gets the same side effects [I kept all the hair on my head, it just grew inchworm slow, but I did end up with an impromptu brazilian @_@ ]

Whiskey, Star Trek, and comic books? If I knew you in real life we could hang out. You’re my kind of people.
I’m glad you have the perspective that having been through this before with your wife you can handle it better, but all I can think is that it sucks you’re going through this again. ![]() |

Type of cancer and when detected are important. Detecting mine on the cusp of Stage 2 was fortunate; it hasn't always been in my family.
Treatment, attitude, and support are also very important. Be strong and positive. iI wish your family well. |

I'm so sorry, Dr. F. If it helps, a lot of us here have survived cancer and some of us have been lucky enough to thrive. I hope this is but a blip in your daughter's life, and that soon it will be history.

My wife - 45 years old - was diagnosed with breast cancer in July and began chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in August. They've been... rough.
My mother has been fighting pancreatic cancer for 8 years, which is about 7 years longer than most people manage. The fact that she's alive is a miracle of science and will. So yeah, fuck cancer. |

Fuck cancer and stay strong for your daughter. You're still Daddy after all.
She's lucky to have such a hip and caring father. She sounds like she wants to be like you. |

Six years ago I helped my Wife throigh breast cancer and a double mastectomy. Three years ago our older daughter was diagnosed with Desmond tumors (which I had never heard of before). I lost my father to stomach cancer thirty years ago.
Younger daughter now has a tumor the size of a soup can in her thyroid. Fuck this shit.
