Ditto Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone" mentioned by silenus upthread.

Rolling with this digression, the most recent song I can think of where the phone's on the wall is the Barenaked Ladies' "The Old Apartment":

Broke into the old apartment
Tore the phone out of the wall

No phone call, though.

Car Phone by Sheeler & Sheeler. It's a parody of Convoy by C.W. McCall. It was recorded in 1995 when yuppies had "car phones" in the BMWs.

Not a song. Just a short conversation: Telephone Conversation by The Mothers of Invention

In The Blimp on Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica album, Antennae Jimmy Semens (Jeff Cotton) is talking through a real telephone, while The Mothers of Invention are playing in the background.

Hello, my baby!
Hello, my honey!
Hello, my ragtime gal!
Send me a kiss by wire.
Baby, my heart's on fire!

If you refuse me,
Honey, you lose me.
Then you'll be left alone.
Oh baby, telephone
And tell me I'm
Your own!

(believed to be the first mention of a telephone in a popular song)

“Hello Central, Give Me Heaven (Cause My Mama’s There)”—1901

“Farewell My Own” from HMS Pinafore includes the lines “no telephone/ communicates with his cell.” Not bad for 1878.

Martha - Tom Waits

Operator, number, please
It's been so many years
Will she remember my old voice
While I fight the tears?
Hello, hello there, is this Martha?
This is old Tom Frost
And I am calling long distance
Don't worry 'bout the cost

Though the lyrics never actually mention a telephone, Please Come to Boston by Dave Loggins is obviously about three phone calls (She just said "no").

King Diamond's 'the phone call'...not sure if it counts as a song; it's a track I think originally meant for the Them album, and it's literally just a phone call from Grandma. I think there's a couple of seconds of music at some point, so I suppose it would count.

and there's a Neil Young song like that, too, where it appears to be just a recording of a phone call he's making home....can't remember the title of it though.

Telephone and Rubber Band by Penguin Café Orchestra. There are no lyrics; it is literally the sound of a tape loop of a UK telephone ring tone intersected with an engaged tone, accompanied by the twanging of a rubber band (and later some strings).

Hey Eugene - Pink Martini

He'd grown up just like me

I'm now wondering what's the earliest published/performed song that includes a reference to the telephone. Bell's patent was issued in 1876, and Gilbert's lyric appeared in the first half of 1878. I'd be shocked if that was the first, but what came before it?
Hmm...

(The full verse, sung by four characters as part of an octet in which a sailor is being imprisoned for daring to love the captain's daughter:

"He'll hear no tone
Of the maiden he loves so well;
No telephone
Communicates with his cell.")

"Obscene Phone Caller" by Rockwell

I came home knocked out after work
That's when my telephone goes berserk.
How can I unwind or get some rest
Receiving sick phone calls from a lonely pest.
Find someone else to bother

Mister or Miss/
Obscene Phone Caller

Why do you get off breathing on that phone?

Mr. telephone man, there's something wrong with my line
When I dial my baby's number, I get a click every time

When I dial 6-1-1 repair service
