Denise Nickerson, Violet in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Dies at 62

Nickerson suffered a severe stroke in June 2018 after which she entered the ICU for treatment. Despite entering a rehab facility later in the year, her son Josh Nickerson took to Facebook earlier Wednesday to announce her debilitating state which led to their decision to cease life support. “They just took off all the equipment. None of it was helping, but making her only more uncomfortable,” he wrote. “We’re telling her it’s okay to let go.”
What is this, a freak out?

I'm really sad to hear this. I was looking at the GoFundMe her family had set up (apparently despite her fame they didn't have a lot of money anymore) and it said that her son and daughter-in-law, her caretakers, had left her alone for around seven minutes, and during that time she got into her meds and took as many as she could. Obviously she didn't want to stick around anymore, and it's sad she had to resort to that.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has been a favorite movie of mine since it first came out. Condolences to her family and friends.

I've been seeing this sad news all over my FB Dark Shadows group today, since she also played several characters on that show before going on to become a giant blueberry. She wasn't that much older than I am, but it seems that her health has been deteriorating for some time.
Miss Elizabeth Mapp might have been forty, and she had taken advantage of this opportunity by being just a year or two older.
