So yes. Colibri has made a sweeping claim that it's basically all ignorant.

To his credit, I started it.

One possibility is that the entire board is populated by ignoramuses and is being moderated by an ignoramus and a liar. The other possibility is that SamuelA is an arrogant asshole who was blatantly wrong about virtually everything he posted, and is either too blinded by narcissism and arrogance to see it, or too stupid to understand it, despite the enumerated evidence. It's one or the other. It's not a complicated question, really.
One might almost ask which hypothesis is more likely?

You could then review the specific claims. If you, say, looked at the first claim. And noticed that actually, the ignoramus is wolfpup, who has filled this entire thread with page after page of blithely ignorant, dismissive posts.

I mean you literally can't miss them. You claimed to have spent an hour reading this thread - did you look up when I caught him and proved he was a liar? I specifically cited my arguments in great detail and tested him on his knowledge of signal processing and theory. Notice how he didn't answer the questions?

For that matter, I quizzed Tripler on the most basic application of the ideal rocket equation. Notice how he didn't answer the questions?

And so if Colibri read these discussions, like he claimed to, and actually saw that wolfpup and Tripler are both ignoramuses, that also makes him a liar as well.

So, yes. Most humans are stupid, and this place apparently has a bunch of them. Which apparently includes the person that was appointed to run it.

Anyways, I've said my piece, and I've proven my points. Unless you, or anyone else, have a substantive response citing specific posts, I'm done here. I'm going to go find a community with less idiots. I hear lesser wrong has revamped their site.

(Of course, 7 min after he dropped his "I'm out" post he still is logged in. I'm sure it's just an errant browser tab or something.)

See, here's the plan with the "trap": I never had an ignore list, I simply just said "ignored," and he was willing to take the bait. I still see every IQ-draining post he makes.

Now if he responds to me, we'll know either:
A) He's full of crap and not actually maintaining the software-driven ignore list or;
B) He's actually got one, and can't resist "lifting the veil" from time to time to feed his arrogance.

So we'll see if his "ignore list" is really just that Post-It note on his monitor.

DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST! The ignore list does not hide quotes. But part of this is that I can't respond to him directly--only the quotes you all put in the thread. He'll come back and say "I lied about the ignore list." Yup, sure did, but y'all see the purpose.

I realize that this could de-evolve into a quotation war, but that's why I need everyone to NOT QUOTE ME. Go ahead and quote him though. . . I can see those. Trust me, this is for the good of the Realm.

I think he meant "fewer" idiots, since according to prescriptive grammar "idiots" presumably refers to a discrete countable quantity. You know, like digital stuff and shit like that, in which SamuelA possesses such awesome expertise in his gigantic throbbing brain that special reinforcing prosthetics are needed just to hold his brain upright on top of his giant head. A brain which, even as we speak, is executing conditional branch statements, just like SamuelA always said it did.

It is, however, idiomatically correct to use "less" in a context like this example sentence: "If SamuelA is true to his word and fucks off to infest some other board, there will be one less idiot on this one."

Tripler he is not using the ignore function in the traditional fashion. He either has a post-it not list reminding him whom not to look at, which he constantly fucks up OR he did finally manage to use the function, but the post-it note reminds him who he wants to read anyway (equally amusing). He explained it at some point. It's all buried back there in the pages of long ago. He forgets and responds to the ignored. I thought I was free! I lean to option A, post-it, still no ignore function.

I liked that goat by the way. He ate Shagnasty's shirt. What's the plan now that you punted him into oblivion?

I'm expecting that SamtheMan can't stay away and we'll see him again soon. Does the Great Machine track "flounce/unflounce/flounce" cycles anywhere?

That was my plan--to catch him in the act of either/or.

There's rumors we have some hibernating capybaras somewhere in the County. We have bears too. Should I try to grab a few of those?

It's a dramatic exit, often involving one who is pissed off and calling the entire room names.

Either

go or move in an exaggeratedly impatient or angry manner ("he stood up in a fury and flounced out")

Or

I see three potential downsides to the illustrious pitees's departure:

Downside #1:
Vigilance must be exercised against the emergence of a new poster who suddenly develops a fondness for SamuelA's legacy and, for the first time ever, proceeds to defend all his posts as absolutely correct and SamuelA himself as a genius and child prodigy. Mods must be especially vigilant if the new poster's name is SamuelB.

Downside #2:
Vigilance must be escalated against the possibility of vast armies of hostile autonomous self-replicating nanobots that may be launched against the SDMB data center.

Downside #3:
This one is genuinely sad, and I mean that sincerely. The guy is going to inflict himself on some other board that may have fewer scientists and engineers than this one, and he is going to bloviate all over them like a diarrhetic goat.

Boy does he ever look foolish with everyone reloading his profile every 5 minutes to see if he's online or not and posting regular updates.

Has it really reached the point that now trolls can expect to be fed without even giving us a little entertainment in return for the much-needed attention? Geez people, make him work for it. It's a lot more entertaining for everyone.

I once visited a sad "zoo" on a Cherokee Indian reservation--it was a room containing a cage full of Nubian goats, a cage containing a constantly pacing tiger, a cage full of ringtail lemurs, and several deep concrete pits containing brown and black bears. There was a dispenser that you could buy kibble to feed to the goats, but I thought about how unfair it was that there was no dispenser to feed the tiger a goat.
