Yes, there were two timelines. One was the slow route and they lost a lot of the original crew. 7 of 9 died in that timeline.

Janeway used a Borg conduit to get them home 25 years quicker in the Finale. Creating a 2nd timeline where more of the crew got home.

Either way, Voyager had more Borg contact than other Federation ships because they were in the Borg's home territory.

Btw, that Borg conduit lead directly into Federation space.

I bet that was a OMG moment for the Federation. The Borg could drop by unannounced anytime they want.

It looks like the producers are confident there will be a season two and are already reaching out to other Trek actors. Robert Picardo, everybody's favorite EMH, reports that the producers have spoken to his agent about a possible appearance. Picardo played two characters on Star Trek: Voyager, the holographic physician who took over when Voyager's senior surgeon was killed, and the EMH's creator, Dr. Lewis Zimmerman.

Quoth Picardo:

Quote:
I am pleased that they (CBS) have expressed interest in me. They have reached out to my agent about next season. So Iím looking forward to seeing what it is. As you know I play two characters, primarily the Doctor but also Lewis Zimmerman.

Star Trek: Picardo.

He also played Zimmerman on an episode of DS9.

He also played the Enterprise - E's EMH (same model as Voyager's, the EMH Mk I) in Star Trek: First Contact.

I breifly thought we were talking about STD. The EMH Doc could easily show up in season 3 of STD. Just would hope they didnt make it too dark of an appearance.

I DO think the time has passed to do a 'holograms are the new slave class' episode. Timeline-wise, that would have been resolved a bit ago. And having a decent handle on Fed ethics, they probably made it illegal to intentionally create sentient holograms.

How they would handle Doc wanting to pro-create...I dunno...

"Author, Author" - VOY season 7, episode 20

Obsolete EMHs are forced to work as miners on an asteroid.

He was shown as being happily married to a human female in Pt1 of the Voyager finale. I've always wondered if his programming included viable holographic sperm. (No, I am not being facetious. Just how far does "fully functional" extend in the 24th century?)

And Picard surrendered his ship to Q in the same ep, giving rise to the customary French-military jokes. Then he tried to do it again to the Ferengi just four episodes later!

Huge bump. A new trailer has been released with our first look at Troi and Riker since the abominable Enterprise finale.

Best trailer so far. This series may be really good. It's a shame most fans won't be able to see it.

I'm not signing up to a streaming service to watch one show.

Riker is in a kitchen...

Holy shit, he's Chef again and the whole series turns out to be just a holodeck simulation.

Good to see that someone in Hollywood understands that there is so much more to Trek than good sci-fi stories. It has always been about the characters.

Is there any chance that this will be on Hulu? I assume no but they get a lot of broadcast shows.

No, this is part of the Balkanization of television. Each streaming service will have a handful of flagship properties and you’ll be expected to subscribe to all of them or miss out. I predict mass piracy returning, but that°s just me.

Sigh... yep. We already have Netflix and Amazon and we just started up Hulu because my wife wanted to watch the Handmaid's Tale (And if you want to watch numerous long lingering shots on Elizabeth Moss's face, then I have a show for you). I really don't want CBS All Access even though I want to watch the new Star Treks. I assume everyone is going to make their own streaming platform and grab some cash before there is some sort of critical mass and collapse.

Well, for Hulu there'll be the Disney+ superpack that gets you Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu+. And I do know you can subscribe to CBS All Access on Amazon but I don't know the cost.

He was too young for the role when it was cast. The usual complaints of the younger generation - "I could've done it better!"

The wife did the same thing simster did - moved it all onto Amazon Prime, and for the same reason. It will be worth it especially if Picard gets more seasons, which seems likely. The producers are already reaching out to other ST alumni for guest-star shots in Season 2.

George Takei had wanted to do a show about Sulu as captain of the Excelsior. He had to settle for one Voyager episode.

Since you have Amazon Prime Video, simply move out of the United States to one of the 200 countries (Canada not included) where Amazon holds the international streaming rights and will stream episodes within 24 hours of their US release.

I'm not particularly keen to see either Ro or Guinan outside of a brief cameo.

In fact, I'd rather they didn't just gratuitously cram in characters purely for fan service. If it actually makes sense for the story, let's have them, but none of this "Picard accidentally bumps into Vash at the corner store on Starbase 43" nonsense.

But I think Ro makes sense here. She's exactly the type of person to fit in the "sometimes you need to go outside of Starfleet to do the right thing" idea we've got going on.

As for Guinan--I could see it being useful for Picard to meet his real councilor, the person who helped him when he had trouble knowing the right thing to do. Granted, it looks like he already handles that on his own in this case, but maybe something could come up.

I mean, she was kinda important to the whole Hugh/Borg thing, as well as to the idea of whether it's slavery to manufacture sentient androids to do all the tasks the humanoids don't want to do. And both of those things seem to be highly relevant to the new show.
