Here's a stupid Republican idea:

Throw the Kurds under the bus. Bumpity bump. Thanks guys for all your support in the past, and we know that we've protected you from Turkey for decades and you were long tme allies,but.....

Trump decided that you were expendable and he really does not understand where you are or what the situation is. He's busy tweeting rude nicknames for people, so does not have the time to figure it out. So.... tough luck.

Of course, when the region all goes to hell in a handbasket because of this, Trump will blame Obama. Or Hillary. Or someone in his own cabinet. Plenty of room under the bus.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch Trump loyalist on most issues, told Fox News the move represented “a big win for Iran and Assad [and] a big win for Isis”.

Hey Senator; There is a solution when a president is going off the fucking rails like this. Take a look; This solution might be right in front of your nose.

The thing is.... Even in a hypothetical world, where there is a recording and twelve witnesses that all describe Trump calling Erdoğan and promising him that the US will remove troops and let Turkey massacre all the Kurds they want.... In exchange for a cash payment directly to Trump business...

The Republicans would all line up to support Trump. They are just that horrible now.

Under stupid lesser Republican ideas, this is from my embarrassment of a Congressional representative, Andy Biggs:

(yes, he really does talk like that)

This isn't the first time Andy's self-owned himself by misunderstand what it is that he's referencing.

You may have heard of my congressional district (GA-6), which was represented by Newt Gingrich from 1978 to 1998. It came to national prominence again in 2017, when seven-term Republican Tom Price was selected by Trump to head HHS in February 2017. (He was forced to resign in less than six months over charges that he used military and private jets for personal travel. A typical corrupt Trump appointee who was held to a higher ethical standard than his boss.)

In the special election to fill his seat, Democrat Jon Ossoff was narrowly defeated by Trump toady Karen Handel. Then in 2018 (with the active help of me and my wife) the district elected Democrat Lucy McBath in 2018, the first time it had gone to a Democrat since 1978. However, that rep, John Flynt, was an old-style Democrat, a strict segregationist who had served since the 1960s. So effectively, 2018 was the first time the district has been represented by what we would today call a Democrat.

But the area is hardly solid blue, and is apparently still capable of raising nut jobs. A few weeks ago, signs started springing up with the following message: "Marjorie Greene. Save America. Stop Socialism."

Here's the candidate: Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In all cases, the videos resulted in a spike in online interest in Greene and her anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim musings. She’s used hate-mongering stunts to gain attention, going as far as ridiculing a survivor of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting that left 17 students and staff members dead.
More hateful stuff she's said and done is described at the link. My wife and I will be working harder than ever to make sure she doesn't get elected.

Donald Trump got "rolled" by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a National Security Council source with direct knowledge of the discussions told Newsweek.

Quote:
"President Trump was definitely out-negotiated and only endorsed the troop withdraw to make it look like we are getting something—but we are not getting something," the National Security Council source told Newsweek. "The U.S. national security has entered a state of increased danger for decades to come because the president has no spine and that's the bottom line."
In case you had not guessed, I think we can do away with any thought that Trump did this for some sort of reason. Basically, he announced that the USA is shafting their long term allies the Kurds, because he's a gullible idiot.

That is all. That's it.

On another note; Does congress have any say in running the country anymore? At all? Or is the USA now governed entirely by random tweet from someone with the mental capacity of a 4 year old? If Trump tweets that he's selling Alaska to Russia for a dollar is that it? Done deal? Nobody else has any say in the matter?

To add to the above:

If Trump has his spokesperson state that " United States forces, having defeated the ISIS territorial "Caliphate," will no longer be in the immediate area."

Does that mean that ISIS is now defeated? That's it, go home, it's all over, Trump has won.....? Nobody else has any say in the matter?

What part of "acting unilaterally" is confusing you?

ETA: "America is exceptional and part off being this kind of exceptional is getting to call the shots. All the shots. All the time. Everywhere." This hasn't been a secret conservative position or anything; they wear it on their sleeves FFS.

Have you already forgotten about W's big banner and the fighter jet flight to get to it to make his big speech? This kind of shit isn't new.

EATA: Remember this from Karl Rove?
Quote:
The aide said that guys like me were 'in what we call the reality-based community,' which he defined as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.' [...] 'That's not the way the world really works anymore,' he continued. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do'.

Well, a lot of people are talking about this, now, and fewer people are talking about how Trump openly committed a crime when he encouraged China to intervene in our elections.

So there's that.

But I bet Trump got a lot of money out of it, too.

Where are these idiots getting the idea that you can impeach members of Congress?
Probably from the same place where people are claiming that if Individual 1 is not convicted in an impeachment trial, he can run for a third term. "Just read the Constitution".

Wait until Republicans find out that Sondland was communicating with the State Department via Whatsapp on personal devices. I mean, they're so invested in the issue of email security, I'm sure that there will be hell to pay and they will have a consistent stance on this issue.

Expect more of this.

The real worry will come when law enforcement stops arresting the Trump supporter with the gun, and starts arresting the bumper sticker owner for "inviting threats" or some such.

That's a stretch. Might not be the best turn of phrase, and yes, it might be true, but Occam's Razor says that he's simply asserting that Schiff is in charge of the kangaroo court, and the statement probably isn't to be taken literally.

Oh, come on! Captain Kangaroo is incredibly well known. There is no way an adult American today would mean anything else other than the beloved character played by Bob Keeshan when they use the character's name. This indicates that the moron-in-question actually does think that character has something to do with "kangaroo courts". That is how Occam'z Razor works here.

Respectfully disagree. In other situations, I've used similar wordplay, not meant to be taken literally. Many of us want to believe the worst about the Gaetz' of the world (and yet too often they surprise us by being even worse than we believed), but I think the statement a not-so-clever play on words.

I'm not saying I am 100% sure and right. I'm just not immediately jumping to the conclusion that paints Gaetz in the worst light (knowing nothing else about him, and not really caring enough about him to find out more).

Even Fox has its limit for Trumpeters:

Quote:
Todd Starnes' tenure at Fox News has come to an abrupt end.

The network has quietly axed Starnes from its lineup, according to The Wrap, and has ceased production on his three-hour Fox News Radio show as well as his Fox Nation program, "Starnes Country."

Fox News did not provide an explanation about the decision not to remove Starnes' contract. It's unclear when the decision was made, but Starnes retweeted a promotion that labeled him as a "Fox News radio host" just hours before the news broke.

Starnes seemingly responded to reports of his termination with a blunt tweet on Wednesday afternoon: "I'm proud to call myself a gun-toting, Bible-clinging, Deplorable Trump supporter," he wrote. "I am a rock-solid conservative and I do not compromise my beliefs. Period."

And in Republican "He Did What The Fuck, Now?" news there is this:

"PHOENIX - Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen has been indicted in an adoption fraud scheme, the Arizona Attorney General's Office confirmed late Tuesday.
The assessor has for years run an adoption law practice in Mesa, which involves bringing women from the Marshall Islands to the U.S. to give birth. Their babies have been placed for adoption with U.S. parents.
Petersen is accused in the indictment of illegally obtaining services from Arizona's Medicaid system for the women, falsely claiming the women are Arizona residents. He also is accused of violating a compact between the U.S. and the Marshall Islands. It prohibits citizens of that country to come to the U.S. if their travel is for the purpose of adoption, unless they have a special visa."

Holy fuck! Members of the Republican Party--as in the party of, one might think, republicanism--are now saying trying to impeach the President is "regicide"?!?

Gee, maybe we should have a Revolution--we could publish some kind of revolutionary manifesto, then ordain a new Constitution in the name of the people to establish this country as a Republic; we could even have some kind of Bill of Rights!

Down with the King! Long live the Republic!

This pales in comparison to the rest of the SRIsOTD. This only shows the speaker has a sense of humor you don't find funny.

I seriously doubt Gaetz doesn't know who Captain Kangaroo is. He was being humorous, and humor doesn't have to follow logic. It's like when the Master said "If ignorance were Corn Flakes, you'd be General Mills." The pedantic immediately thinks "but Corn Flakes are made by Kellogg's." Is a statement meant to be absurd really worth correcting?

I remember criticism of Reagan being called "blasphemy". This is actually an improvement.

It's wrong on top of Kool-aid flavoured nuts. Regicide is when you *kill* the guy, not just depose him. AFAIK impeachment does not end in front of a firing squad.

The announcement of Burkman and Wohl's press conference to bring forth an alleged sexual partner of Kamala Harris. I don't know what Election 2020 HQ means, but I think it's Burkman's house, based on the Google Maps image.

Not too sure "this female candidate bangs good looking dudes in their twenties!" is doing harm to any reputations here, but it could be me. Now I actually want the Cougar Ticket to be a thing.

Trump has had a way more scandalous sex life (divorces, affairs, prostitutes) than the shit that Wohl has been making up about others. I don’t get it! I guess another instance of It’s Okay When A Republican Does It.
