TV Binge Watch

Like the Movie Marathon thread, but with TV shows.

First topic: Successful TV shows starring actors from earlier successful TV shows. Include both shows, earlier show and actor in parentheses.

1. The Mary Tyler Moore Show (Mary Tyler Moore, The Dick Van Dyke Show)

No, really: Jurassic Bark (the one with Fry's dog), Game of Thrones (the one when Fry meets his mother again) or The Luck of the Fryish (When he realizes his brother did love him) were some of the saddest, most touching things to ever appear on television.

Suddenly Susan was a terrible sitcom, purely a vehicle for star Brooke Shields, and it had very little in the drama department... until actor David Strickland, who played the supporting character Todd, committed suicide. The episode where they hastily wrote the character's death in Season 3 is... sort of weird.

(Yeah, both of these came to mind, and it's ending the list anyway, so take 2)

Shows whose theme songs were hit singles before the show came out (even if recorded by a different artist for the show).

After the show, put the theme song and the artists (original artist [and remake artist, if redone]).

1. Bosom Buddies ("My Life" by Billy Joel; recorded by Gary Bennett and Mike Lucas for the show)

Additional point of note, Love Spit Love's version was on the soundtrack for the movie "The Craft" which is a large part of why Charmed took it for their theme.

Well, it didn't chart in the U.S., but it was pretty big here in Europe.
