Speaking of irk -------- (if I try to change pages with an open post window I usually lose the window) my shift is being increased by an hour. Fine for me through April or June but at that point it could be an issue. That means every day I take off is 6.5 hours of UPT instead of 4 and I still am limited by a 80 hour cap. Oh well ------ this is Da Jungle; by next month everything could be even more different yet again. It is always day one for us.

Back from the wilds of Miami. One takes a huge chance with ones life driving up there. We are back in under 8 hours. Appointment went good. Hubs had a stress test and one more medicine added to what he already takes.

It is dark and dreary out and I could take a nap but it’s too late in the day.i don’t need anything to mess with my nighttime sleep.

Be good.

I have a cleaning lady, a gardener and a laundry service who all come in weekly.

If needed, I have a plumber, electrician and builder / decorator.

I'm very excited - I just found out the the local junior college will be offering ASL in the spring! I've been wanting to learn it since forever. Registration opens tomorrow, and I intend to sign (heh) up then! YAY!

FCD isn't interested in supper, so I'll be cooking for Roxy and me. Not sure what we'll have - I need to inventory the fridge. Onward!!

My washing machine flooded the kitchen,

I didn't hear the hose fall so the entire kitchen was wet. I had to drag all the rugs outside and hang them over the railings. It's cloudy, but breezy.

The breeder sent two cow's hooves with Echo, but of course they fight over the same one.

This day is starting to get on my nerves.

sari, the first three months I had Nelson, I dropped 20 pounds from taking his little butt out 6 times a day and playing fetch at least 100 times.

Moooom, yay for taking classes after re-retirement! Not only will you learn something, you'll be a good example for RoxStar.

Irked, came home, walked the dog, swept and mopped and am now eating supper. Chillage later this evening.

I hire someone to rake the yard and blow pine straw off the roof.

It's usually 9 to 10 bags each time. I have the yard raked twice during the Fall.

I did it for many years. It's really nice letting someone else spend the day stuffing plastic yard bags. I don't mind the expense at all.

Evening all. It's Fall break here (school closes for a week) so I gave the kids Mon-Wed off from soccer practice and I'm just house-hanging. Nappage this afternoon, so will try to stay up late. It's 68F outside and cloudy, if I could save this day for another two months...

FCM, we'll see who wears out first...And good on ya for taking classes--I should, just too lazy.

Sari, kids do the same thing.

Butters, glad you survived the drive and Husband-unit is doing OK.

All y'all take care.

Worked, laundered, voted(voter #355). Canes won again.

red, first day I had Gordie, we went for a 3 mile jog, followed but 3 hours of fetch. I ended up collapsing on the floor, too weak to reach my beer.

sari, eek!

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffeinatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall lay in provisions, deal with church janitor Junior Warden duties over to the church house, and make sup which shall be beef enchiladas, rice, and refried beans with fartfest to follow. OLÉ!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas, alack, and all sorts of bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein' about the public attire.

Happy Hump Day Y'all!

I'm a bad girl: I haven't started my new project yet and I'm already taking two days off (one for a highly-overdue doctor's visit, one to travel back without trying to break every radar between my doctor's office and the airport). Hopefully my new boss will be ok with that, considering I'm actually joining the team early...

And we all appreciate your sacrifice...

As for the class, I've always wanted to learn sign language and this is the first time it's being offered at the campus nearest me at a time the doesn't interfere with work (which I won't be doing this spring.) Roxy already knows a few signs - I bought her a baby sign language book, so she can ask for "more" and "eat". I plan to teach her as I learn.

Meanwhile, today won't get out of the 60s and I didn't think to wear a sweater or hoodie. Luckily, it's a quick dash from my car to the building, so I'll survive. And it's lots cooler now than it will be at quitting time.

So, Happy Wednesday!!!

Happy Hump Day!

It rained overnight so who knows when the rug will dry out.
It's an 8x10 and it was dripping when I dragged it outside. I imagine it's dripping even more now. I'd spread it out on the deck if my deck was higher off the ground and air could get under it. I supposed I could use the wet vac.
Well, I'd been wanting to pull up the rugs and clean under them. Just didn't plan on it being like this.

On the agenda for today is laundry, a mess of towels that need to be washed.
I am ready to kill my son - I bought hand towels for the bathroom - and he pulled out the biggest, bulkiest, heaviest bath sheet to use to dry his hands.
We have had this discussion several times. I bought hand towels in a totally different color so they stand out and we don't have to pick through the different towels to find them.
I can add straightening the linen closet to my list of things to do.
It's overdue.

Guess I'd better get up and get moving, or nothing will get done.

I debating whether or not to take the dogs to day care. They already went Moonday, and they will be going again Firday, because I have to drive down to the armpit for a doctor appointment. Three days in one week is a lot, but having them gone makes it easier for me to get stuff done. I have some errands I need to run and they can't go with me.
And it's raining, so the dog park will not be so much fun. Yesterday only two other people showed up, and one didn't stay long.

I lost 13 pounds after I got Ripple. A lot of getting up and down when there is a puppy in the house. Then I cut carbs and lost another 80 pounds.

I think I'll just take them to daycare.
I have way too much to do around here. I need to figure out what to do with the kitchen floor while the rug is up. I'll pull out the wood putty stuff and fill in the gouges.

I guess you're officially an old geezer now!

I've been busy, but I'm having a tough time staying motivated. I'm just tired of doing all this stuff. 28 regularly scheduled work days till retirement... Yeah, I'm counting.

Pups are off at daycare.
The sun has come out, so I'm hoping the rug will dry out.
If not, my son can pull out the wet vac and do what he can.

Youngster! I have you beat by 7 years today. We have been in Ark mode for several hours, with flood alerts disturbing my sleep. The Northeast wind has the house moaning. I went on a diet destroying trip yesterday as a present to myself--Arby's, Cinnabon and DQ--and to give the new car a trip, as the nearest Arby's is a hour away.

I was also hunting apples, as this weekends mission will be applesauce. However, it seems the weather this year was not conductive to producing apples. Locally, when you can find any, a lunch bag sized bag of apples is going for 9 bucks. Methinks I'm going to the supermarket where they are 89 cents a pound. One orchard surprised me, they had these supersized apples that were grapefruit sized--at two for six bucks!

Up early, need to find sustenance here shortly, but temperature is 64F and I'm just enjoying the (non)-sound of my AC.

No, tho as she closes in on her Terrible Twos, she's got a few listening issues...

We'd read that children learn signs before they're verbal, so her parents picked out a few signs that have proven to be helpful. And since I'm a big advocate for knowing as many languages as possible, I intend to teach her signing as I learn it, and once she's vocal, she's going to learn a little French and a little Spanish, too.

LUNCH TIME!!

Happy Alien Day!!!

Getting ready for our trip to Buffalo and environs to go leaf peeping and visit the wife's old haunts. We're also going to swing by a couple of historical societies in northern PA to see what they have on my ancestors.

As for jobs at age 72: I can do most minor repairs, including electrical and plumbing and sheetrock. I can build a table or a flower box if I need it. I recently refinished our dining room table. We do a complete house cleaning twice a year, including the deck and porches. For things like painting, or major reno work, contractors get the call, and I do very little vehicle maintenance now, as there just isn't much under the hood that you dare to touch.

We had all the grass removed, so no more mowing/edging. We have a guy who comes every other week to pull weeds and do general yard maintenance.

Well, we are officially homeowners again. The house closed and recorded moanday.
Wifey is driving me crazy planning what to take over there this weekend and what to do while we're there.
I'm going to fix 3, maybe 4, gates and multiple holes in the fences, plus replace deck boards, this trip.
She has big plans.
I do too, but I'm more of a 'work at one thing at a time' person. She wants it all to happen at once.

As for hiring things out, I'm all for it. I can still do most everything I used to do, including building houses, but it takes me a terrible long time to do them, so we let other people do them.

Speaking of which, I need to get dressed and go build a gate.

Happy birthday Alien.
Came home to a thunderstorm sitting right over my hood. I discovered that Buddy Boy is skeered of thunder. Poor thing. He also would rather play with a knotted sock than his toys that I have spent a small fortune on.

Evening all. Another nothing-much day, did some soccer stuff (but no practicing), short nappage and watched a little baseball. Got out for a bit this evening and stopped at Publix for Pepsi. Didn't really need it, but they had a "buy 2, get 2 free" deal on 12 packs and for what amounts to $0.25 per can it's a deal that I can't pass up.

Congratulations, Bumba, on the house. Enjoy the work...

All y'all have a good night now.

Today turned into a pretty day, N.O.S. and 70 degrees.

The big rug is almost dry. If tomorrow is nice as predicted, then it should be totally dry.

I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped.

Red - I think getting my son to wash his own towels is a good idea. As far as sharing, I only use the upstairs bathroom for showers, or if I have to get up in the middle of the night. He never uses the powder room downstairs. He doesn't seem to mind running up and down the stairs all day.

Congrats Bumba, happy hammering, or whatever you do to make a gate.

Cuddles to Buddy. I hope that he grows out of his fear. Nelson has, so there's hope.

It's not that I like doing these things, but I'm well enough that I can still manage them myself, plus, yanno, I'm frugal. (Not cheap - frugal!!!) I still do mowage and snow shoveling. In fact, the only regular chore so far that we've hired out is cleaning the gutters. I won't get on the roof, and I refuse to let FCD do it any longer. It's worth $120 to have someone come in and take care of it for us. And in the spring, I'm going to get someone to pressure wash the 2 sides of the house that have siding, because we don't have a pressure washer, and even if we did, it's a job we don't want to do.

We've long been having someone else maintain our vehicles. I'll refill the washer fluid and replace wiper blades or the occasional light, but I was never interested in changing oil or brakes or, frankly, and of that stuff. FCD used to like to do that in his youth, but about 25-ish years ago, he got bored with it, too.

So, what do you do yourself, and what would you rather pay someone else to do?

Oh, yeah, Happy Moanday!

Everything I can!

Have to draw the line at electrical stuff.

A nice customer of mine gave me a pressure washer. That needs done at least annually.
It's not as powerful as my friend's I used to borrow, but it's mine, and it does a good job, and there's not all that recoil. It may take a bit longer, but I like pressure washing anyways, it's relaxing.

The wand can be operated with 1 hand.

Cleaned the bathroom, kitchen, dusted, vacuumed, cleaned the cat hornk out of the sunroom ,and walked Gordie a bit. I had the windows open, so Gordie spent the day violently warning the neighbors about the peril of the Invisible Mole People.

Forty two more working days at my current job. Job hunting is on hold until 10/21, when we can find out who the new operator of the cafe will be, and whether or not we will be wanted. I'm majorly depressed right now. The house is a mess, I can't make myself do anything about it. One of the only things that is keeping me going is looking after my mom. I can't look down in front of her. Oh, and my dog. As my sig says, at least he loves me. I might go further down without him.

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffeinatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out (will there be an iceberg in the cee-mint pond?) and clear with a predicted high of *ONLY* 87 and N.O.S. for the day. Today I deal with gettin' an estimate on replacin' a HVAC unit at the church house. Rah. I get to go there to meet the folks. I need the estimate by Moanday so's I can bring it and another one to the Vestry for a decision as to what to do. Envy my life! We shall break the fast for sup tonight with ham 'n cheese omelets, grits, and bizkits. Just in the mood for breakin' the fast foodstuffs, plus, relatively easy.

{{{CupCakes}}} like doggio said, we love ya! I can't imagine why the new owners wouldn't want to keep an experienced baker.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, alas, alack, bother of bothers, I must purtify and once again don appropriate bein' about the public attire. Le sigh.

Happy Thursday Y'all!
