Interpretations of films - where to find online?

Often, after watching a film, I want to read about how others have interpreted it. (Something like, but for movies.)

The discussion forums on the Internet Movie Database ( were a great place for that, but they were shut down a couple of years ago (what a waste!).

There are a few imitators -, - but none seem to have anywhere near as much discussion for any individual film as did.

The other place that I have seen film interpretations is in academic or intellectually-oriented film reviews. But finding these reviews for specific films has been hit-and-miss.

Does anyone know where film meanings are being discussed - by users or critics - on the internet?

Of course, the most obvious place is RottenTomatoes, but like IMDb they only have lots of individual audience reviews, not threaded discussions.

The best place for critics' reviews is probably MetaCritic. The reviews are ranked from most favorable to least, with an average. There are are also user reviews.

The /filmcast, aka The SlashFilmcast is a great film podcast, and the associated /Film is worth reading.
