Testing: Creating a Poll

In the 1958 John Wayne movie Rio Bravo, Dean Martin played the alcoholic town sheriff, Dude. In the 1967 John Wayne movie El Dorado, who portrayed the alcoholic town sheriff J.P. Harrah?

Basically, it was the same part. Now John Wayne, he did the same in both. He played John Wayne.

The part of John Wayne of course being played by Marion Robert Morrison who was himself much like the character he played.

Too easy eh? Well, it was a test. And perhaps I could have spelled Mitchum correctly. How about this: What were the real and character names of the two young (some might say "up and coming") actors who appeared in each film? No, Angie Dickinson doesn't count.

I'm not bothering with character names but are you thinking James Davis and Robert Donner? Donner I can see; I believe Rio Lobo was just first big break. But Davis had been a steadily working actor before either film.

And you know ------- if we keep this up we may be the first thread in history to get moved from ATMB to CS!

John Wayne wasn't like Marion Morrison. He was more like Yakima Canutt except there's no way he could have ever won the Pendleton Roundup.

I better answer this before it slides out of view.

Rio Bravo: Rick Nelson (of Ozzie & Harriet fame) was fast-with-a-gun "Colorado."
El Dorado: James Caan was fast-with-a-knife "Mississippi."

Mods: feel free to close this thread.

NOT YET!!!!!!!

Where I screwed up was "What were the real and character names of the two young (some might say "up and coming") actors who appeared in each film?" I thought you meant two people who were in both films and up-and-coming. One for sure but the other as I said could be debated.

John Wayne's not dead, he's frozen
And as soon as we find a cure for cancer
We're gonna thaw out the Duke
...
I'm gonna get the Duke, and John Cassavetes
And Lee Marvin, and Sam Peckinpah, and a case of whiskey
And drive down to Texas and ...
