I got stuck on the IRS audits you day.

Could been worse I suppose. The day Bubba man raped me because of the defective breathalizer would have have really sucked.

Rita: Believe it or not, I studied 19th-century French poetry.
Phil: (laughs) What a waste of time! ...I mean, for someone else that would be an incredible waste of time. It's so bold of you to choose that. It's incredible; you must have been a very very strong person.

I love that exchange, so wonderfully funny and sad at the same time. Rick Overton was perfect in that role.

Hmm. My DVD version is quite a muddy dirty print. I should upgrade to BluRay.

Hey, why don't you reanimate MY zombie Groundhog Day thread, to keep it in the running for Most Reanimations of a Zombie Thread Award?

Mod note

I'm pretty sure it's mucking with the space-time continuum to have more than on Groundhog Day thread, so I merged two.

A couple of things I've noticed on the umpteenth time viewing this classic

- When Phil gives Larry the cameraman (the Chris Elliott character) a countdown "On me in 3 - 2 - 1" he counts down on his fingers. The count of 1 is the middle finger extended

- Phil gets hit on the head with a shovel when trying to make a phone call after the blizzard has started. Is it the resulting concussion that's being shown for the rest of the movie? (I hope not - that'd be too boring)

Every year, when I wake up and it's February 3 after but a single iteration of Groundhog Day, a little bit of me dies.

Good evening. Tonight on 'It's the Mind', we examine the phenomenon of déjà vu. That strange feeling we sometimes get that we've lived through something before, that what is happening now has already happened.

- It's coooold out there every day. What is this, Miami Beach?
- Not hardly. And you know, you can expect hazardous travel later today with that, you -know, that, uh, that blizzard thing.
- That blizzard - thing. That blizzard - thing. Oh, well, here's the report! The National Weather Service is calling for a "big blizzard thing!"
- Yeees, they are. But you know, there's another reason why today is especially exciting.
- Especially cold!
- Especially cold, okay, but the big question on everybody's lips...
- On their chapped lips...
- On their chapped lips, right: do ya think Phil is gonna come out and see his shadow?
- Punxsutawney Phil!
- That's right, woodchuck-chuckers - it's GROUNDHOG DAY!

Larry, after Phil drives the truck with the groundhog over the cliff in the quarry:

Larry: "He might be ok."
<BIG EXPLOSION AND FIREBALL>
"Well, no. Probably not now."
