Republican Carl Nett, who is a former Secret Service member and CIA contractor, is running for Secretary of State of Kentucky. After Democratic Congressman bragged about his F rating from the NRA, Neff made a "joke" about using him for target practice.

Ah, threatening to kill political opponents.

He says it was a joke, and it probably was funny to him, but threatening to kill people is never a joke. That seems to be SOP these days though, say something threatening or otherwise heanius, and then backtrack calling it a joke.

OTOH, there are probably quite a number of republicans that would cheer if someone shot the congressman, so it's not going to hurt Nett's votes at all.

Not sure what sorta foot he's starting off on when he says:

Quote:
"What I'm not here to do is complain about who has done me wrong, or how unfair I've been treated, or how unfair the entire process has been -- it is what it is, and my previous statements stand for themselves," Flynn told the small group of attendees. "I'm here to talk about the future -- your future, our future, the future of this country. If you feel passionate about something, and feeling sorry for yourself will keep you from achieving that destiny, then I can't be a part of that. That's partly why I'm here today, because I saw that passion in the eyes of Omar".
Well it's nice that at least he wasn't whining right off the bat about what a hard done by martyr he's been. And, he doesn't want to have ANY part of having pity for you. Or something. Don't think I wanna know what situation where he saw passion in Omar's eyes.
And figures Flynn's stumping for someone like Navarro, who's your basic anti-Obamacare gun nut.

Defying court orders? How often do turds like that get sent to jail for contempt of court? The humans need to start playing hardball against these rogue replicants.

He wasn't held in contempt. He tried to introduce evidence that he hadn't produced to the other party. The judge correctly refused to admit it. It happens frequently.

I thought the contempt was because he hadn't notified the citizens removed from the voting rolls improperly that they were back on the rolls and could legally vote again.

You are correct: the contempt hearing was about the judge's 2016 order.

I am very likely misremembering, but my impression was that the writing was particularly lazy and the drama childish compared to any random Law & Order episode.

I'm going to link to this story every time a thread starts with "Liberals believe" or "Liberals do"

"Republicans are Holocaust Deniers" makes for a good rebuttal I think.

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney thinks somebody from the "Deep State" ordered Ben Carson's $31,000 table set to make him look bad.
She's the same moron who said "many mass shooters wind up being Democrats."

Yeah. Carson’s a HUGE asshole, but I didn’t think he was THAT much of an asshole.

National Treasure Sen. Liz Warren called him out TO HIS FACE yesterday, not only for grifting but for being bad at his job:

That is unfair. His definition of what his job entails may differ greatly from her definition. For all we know, he is doing well by his (or CFSG's) terms and progressing toward his goals, whatever those might be. Who is she, a lowly Senator, to be trying to boss him around. Talk about uppity (and persistent).

Not sure if you're being facetious (Poe's Law, and all that) but this does raise an interesting point.

Sen Warren may be under the impression that the goals of an Executive Branch department are fairly constant. But as evidenced by what's happening at EPA and CFPB, we can see that they're subject to the caprices of the president.

So it's possible that HUD has these goals:

1. Buy yourself some nice furniture.
2. If confronted by housing discrimination, see goal #1.

In which case, he's crushing it.

I'll be damned. I stupidly thought biomass was pretty close to carbon neutral too. Thanks for relieving me of that bit of ignorance.

It can be. If you are using agricultural waste that is renewed every year, sure. If you are growing a crop specifically to turn into fuel, that works too(though may have other externalities to consider).

Unfortunately, it takes much longer to grow a tree than to burn it. If we were in a place where CO2 levels were at an acceptable level and more or less stable, then burning wood for energy would probably not be a bad thing.

Where we are, though, there is no way for forests to absorb what we've already put out, much less the additional usage.

As I suspected, she’s actually a candidate for the Republican nomination.

Given California’s nonpartisan blanket primary, how likely is it that two parties will be represented on the November ballot in this district (its Darrell Issa’s old seat)?

Yeah, and they should stop "looking to someone else to solve their problems," because, you know, they could just change policies and push bills through all by themselves without even having the right to vote yet. Or they could take on some extra summer jobs to buy themselves bulletproof vests and solve their own damn problems that way.

.....

Just waiting for Clothahump to show up and mock the youth for what they're doing....Oh, never mind; he already accused them of being the same kids who just a few weeks ago were chowing down on Tide Pods.

The ONLY thing in Santorum's defense (and I feel oogy saying that) that underlied his comments that [sic] "Phony gun laws won't change anything".

At least in that respect, he's not wrong. But what horrible, stupid and insensitive things to say otherwise.

Equipoise - Congrats on the anniversary of starting this long history documenting the decline of the Republican party and politics in general (3/26/2009).
