New Hampshire church shooting

I’m trying to find another source, for some reason the only report I’ve gotten is from the Daily Mirror in the U.K.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.m...e-20566214.amp

Edit: found this on Twitter from a local news reporter

One brief report from Boston here; not much detail.

I'm not finding any US sources, although that does appear to be a real church. I wonder if someone found a photo of the church with police tape outside it, and made up a story?

It could be, although that seems a bit unlikely for a U.K. newspaper to make up a story about a church in a tiny New Hampshire town. It is a Saturday so unless there was a 7th day Adventist service was taking place, it wouldn’t likely be used for worship right now. Could have been a bible study or some community project.

Edit: Here’s a CBS reporter’s Twitter with what little is known

It would, though, be entirely consistent for a rag of the stature of the Daily Fail to pick up on a made up story and run with it, without first checking its veracity or the reliability of the source.

It appears to be real, although of unknown scope. Gov. Sununu has made an initial statement of support for the law enforcement response and investigation of the event.

CNN link. It is real.

A suspect is custody after a Saturday shooting at a New Hampshire church left at least one person wounded, Pelham Police Chief Joseph Roark said.

Authorities responded to the New England Pentecostal Church shortly after 10 a.m., Roark said.
Roark said "more than one person" was shot, but he said he could not discuss the exact number of injuries, the extent of those injuries, or whether anybody was killed. He did not identify the suspect or give a motive.

An ordained minister of the church was found shot to death inside his home on Oct 1. His funeral service was to be held today at the church. Mourners were arriving at the church when the shooting occurred.

First shooting was on the First; second shooting was today at his church. Is the church suspect responsible for both?

NYTimes (Oct 12, 2:24 PM Eastern):

2 Shot at Church Wedding in New Hampshire, Police Say
Quote:
A gunman opened fire during a wedding ceremony on Saturday morning at a church in Pelham, N.H., injuring two people before he was detained by guests attending the celebration, the police said.

A suspect was in custody, Police Chief Joseph Roark of the Pelham Police Department said at a news conference on Saturday afternoon.

The police received a call of an active shooter at 10:12 a.m. at the New England Pentecostal Ministries church, he said. Officers found a man and woman with gunshot wounds at the church.

The identity of the gunman and victims were not publicly available.

But in a Facebook post, Neivia Choate wrote: “A coward walked into my family’s church today at NEP New England Pentecostal Church and shot my uncle Bishop Stanley Choate I call for anyone that knows and believes and In the GOD we serve to get on your knees and pray for my family.”

A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

Pelham, which is more than 30 miles north of Boston and is near the Massachusetts border, has a population of just over 13,000. The church and its bishop are well known in the African-American community of Lowell, Mass., said Darius Mitchell, who said his family was close with Bishop Choate. Mr. Mitchell said that Bishop Choate was being treated at Lowell General Hospital.

I simply can not imagine why someone would want to shoot people on their wedding day.

The Voice of America guy had it that it was a memorial service for the minister who was shot at home on October 1, rather than a wedding. I wonder which it was?

The shooting today happened during the wedding about 10 AM. A memorial service for the murdered minister had been scheduled to take place this afternoon.

Or, you know, ever.

Jilted suitor? "If I can't have her, no one can".

Anyway, that sort of dynamic.
