I thought about this a while, but I think the symbolic power of putting forth a 'democratic socialist' is worth something.

Inslee's big thing appears to be climate change, and his website doesn't mention nuclear, so he isn't serious. Still, better than Bernie.

Is this who we WANT to win, or who we THINK will win?

Who you want to win.

I will be curious to see how this goes. When we did the Madness a few months ago we settled on Sherrod Brown. Will an equally unlikely dark horse emerge this time?

For me personally, the only first round matchup that doesn't look like a no-brainer is Harris-Warren.

I like Inslee but love Bernie.

What I've seen of Inslee so far looks good, but I prefer Sanders (who is my current tentative #1 pick overall, of those declared).

I was a Clinton supporter last go-round but I admire how he scrapped for the nomination. I don't agree with him on everything but at this level he's got my vote. Serious candidate.

I think Bernie is a good candidate but I really question how effective a president he would be. Inslee is not inspiring, but he'd get a few things accomplished.

Inslee. Easy decision since I fear Bernie would give Trump four more years.
ETA: And I agree that Bernie would probably be ineffectual as President.

Bernie doesn't do anything for me and I don't think he could get elected. Since we definitely have to get humping on climate change because time is running out, I'll go for Inslee.

If we don't strongly address climate change in the next dozen years, it'll be nice if we're all socialist and stuff as the world cooks. Inslee.

ETA: Also, Inslee has been a good governor of Washington, and he could run on a wide swath of issues. Not to mention, he'd be competent at governing, which is not something I expect out of Bernie. Still, I'm glad that somebody competent has chosen to run on climate change alone.

Inslee is about climate change, but he has some good arguments, and a bit of a record of how it might be done, of how addressing that could function as a unifying driver for a lot other issues. If he can bring that home in the initial debates, he could emerge as the Democratic dark horse.

Inslee therefore gets my vote.
