How has President Trump pissed you off today?

During the campaign and even after being elected, Donald Trump has proved again and again that he's not going to change from being the same arrogant, corrupt, bullying, bigoted, misogynistic, unfiltered braggart with zero interest in wise public policy that that he's always been.

But what has he done to prove that on the day that you post here?

He said he'd make America great again.

What's he waiting for, Monday?

He ruined the traditional, mildly entertaining inauguration ceremony I would enjoyed had almost anyone else who ran won. His angry dictator-esque speech was particularly disappointing.

I have a feeling this is going to be a loooong thread.

Hopefully only four years long. Seeing this thread still active in 2024 would be a YUGE bummer.

I just listened to his speech as a result of reading your post, and I didn't find his speech angry or dictatoresque. Populist and nationalist, for sure, but in fact, given the audience he seeks, I found it quite good and collected.

Finding that his Swamp Thing cabinet has PBS, NPR and others in the chopping block.

https://mediamatters.org/blog/2017/0...c-media/215060

Quote:
While many think only of National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) when they think of public media, it actually consists of “a system of independently owned and operated local public radio and television stations” that air a combination of commercial-free original programming and programming licensed from other stations through organizations like NPR and PBS. This programming includes broadcasts on local issues, children’s education, the arts, and public affairs.

The stations derive funding from multiple sources, but that funding is often contingent on the federal grants CPB provides to more than 1,041 radio stations and 365 television stations.

The George W. Bush administration tried to use its authority to swing public programming to the right. Kenneth Y. Tomlinson, Bush’s appointee to chair CPB, used federal funds to examine alleged liberal bias on the PBS program NOW, formerly hosted by Bill Moyers. He also helped raise $5 million to produce a PBS show hosted by The Wall Street Journal’s right-wing editorial board.

But under Obama, congressional Republicans pushed to eliminate funding for public broadcasting altogether. The found a ready cheering section from right-wing media, which frequently lashed out at “liberal” PBS and NPR. Critics typically say that public media should be able to easily make up the loss of the federal dollars.

That’s not the case. According to CPB’s statement, “The federal investment in public media is vital seed money -- especially for stations located in rural America, and those serving underserved populations where the appropriation counts for 40-50% of their budget. The loss of this seed money would have a devastating effect.”

Indeed, “the loss of federal support would mean the end of public broadcasting,” according to a 2012 report commissioned by CPB from Booz & Company.

The study reviewed alternative funding mechanisms but determined that none could adequately replace federal funding without compromising the mission of public broadcasting. “A reduction or elimination of CPB funding will put 63% (251) of radio stations and 67% (114) of television stations in the public broadcasting system at risk,” according to the report. Many of the stations at greatest risk for shuttering altogether are in rural areas that have more limited programming options -- some are the only broadcast stations available to their audience.

Booz’s report could not have been more explicit about the “inevitable consequences” of cutting off public funding:

I haven't looked at any news today, so as far as I am aware, he hasn't done anything to piss me off. I'm not laying bets on tomorrow, however.

By cutting off NPR and PBS to rural areas, they further reduce the opportunities for people to educate themselves about their community, their state, their country, and their world.

Keeping them ignorant ensures they keep voting republican.

Thanking the "people of the world" does suggest that he feels he owes his victory, at least in part, to persons or entities beyond our borders.

We don't need no stinking Lincoln. Lincoln got himself shot. I like presidents who don't get shot. LOSER!

My local news showed some scenes from the inauguration, which I didn't watch. They showed Hillary putting on a brave face, during what must have been torture for her. They showed her extending her hand to Pence, and Pence just walking right past her. Class.

I thought the tone of his speech was jarring and jingoistic for an inauguration speech.

I suppose, for a candidate that made his bones by ignoring political norms, this should not surprise me. But it did. How do you go from thanking "the citizens of the world" to announcing that from this day forward it's "America first?"

Flip my car and I will hunt YOU down. Well, not you, the poster, but whoever decides to flip my car.

Says the non believer that will swallow 4 years of not only panders to religion, but actual legislation that will make a mockery of the wall between church and state.

Quote:
In one of his very first substantive moves as president, Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday that will result in a hike to many first-time homeowners’ mortgage bills.

Trump, who claimed a populist mantle in his first speech as a president, signed the executive order reversing an Obama-era policy less than an hour after leaving the inaugural stage.

The order will have the immediate effect of increasing the amount that most non-wealthy homeowners must contribute to the Federal Housing Authority’s insurance program. Beginning Jan. 27, most borrowers will now have to pony up six-tenths of a percent of their mortgage each month, up a quarter of a percentage point from last year. Americans with $200,000 mortgages will pay roughly $500 more in 2017 than they did in 2016, according to the FHA.
How will his idiot followers blame black people for this?

when trump says he is for the people, he implies I am not a person. He does not stand for the LGBTQ+ community. His VP doesn't stand for us. Am I no longer a person? Am I suppose to stand by and watch as my brothers and sister be electrocuted because they increased fundings, etc. Trump stands for those who continuously and explicitly oppress others in order to maintain their power.

He is an Omen!!!!!

Between Him and the Mayor of Auburn, Turnbull, well, most Aussie Politicians actually, the time has come that we realise just how ridiculous we are being letting ourselves be run by people who live outside, and for most of their lives have, the reality most of us call life., Double standards, lies....on and on. Teach our kids, dont vote. Dont enrol. It does not matter anyway. I woke one morning and we had a new PM, and not one person voted for that. Same party? Yes. Left or right???? Just laugh people, and try work for cash.

Impossible

I think I'm mad because I almost realize that he is not like normal human beings and cannot be appealed to on the basis of any kind of reason, compassion, or kindness. I recall sadam hussians son who was completely and totally warped due to the things he witnessed or was forced to do when he was a child. Trumps father must have exposed him to how to be a brutish, hollow version of a human being. He stands aside from mankind and witnesses, but does not participate emotionally. So, thats why no amount of insults and criticism can stop his behavior. I think the only way is to kill him and once he is out of office he will live a life, just like Husein, trying to avoid death. Somewhere out there is someone who is just waiting.

So, today, when that video came out, harking back to the one with the perpetually rotating turnstile, it hit me how vile and unstoppable he is. And they say, people always believe first what you say, not what you do. And you can't stop someone who truly doesn't care. I wish Ivanka and her husband hadn't gone with him to the synagogue. I used to admire her. And she has children. Barron will be warpped; his thugs will kill his wife if she tries to interfere. She knows that. I won't be around when all the terrible results of his brutish ways come to pass. Thank God.

tomorrow I might think again that there is something someone can say to stop him even though there is nothing. Voting in his favor is like destroying your future and that of your family.

Trump shrugs off North Korea concerns after Bolton says it broke UN ban
Quote:
President Trump tweeted a different take Saturday on North Korea from National Security Adviser John Bolton, who said Pyongyang's recent missile tests violated UN Security Council resolutions and sanctions must remain against the country.
"North Korea fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me. I have confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to me, & also smiled when he called Swampman Joe Biden a low IQ individual, & worse. Perhaps that’s sending me a signal?"

— President Trump
