Here's a nice article about Barbara and the Astros. She liked to keep score!

Wow. A true fan! And she was rewarded by last year's win. Many people don't live long enough to see their team win the Series. Fortunately, she did. Good for her and George.

UK Game Show host Dale Winton has died, seemingly unexpectedly, though most likely from my own estimation an undisclosed illness.

Astros, huh? ISTR her son owned part of a baseball team, but it was not the Astros.

I think he owned the TX Rangers.

As for the Astros, George HW and Barbara Bush have close ties to Houston.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling great Paul Jones has died at 75. Jones was my favorite wrestler as a kid. He and Chief Wahoo McDaniel were an awesome tag team. When Paul Jones turned heel on Ricky Steamboat, I turned heel with him and never rooted for the good guys again.

The thing I remember the most about Paul Jones: having his bald head exposed ("BAAAAAALD Headed Geek!") accidentally at the end of what I like to call the 30 Minute Rest Hold match (it was right after Jones lost a "hair vs. Big Mama's hair" match against Jimmy Valiant - Jones was managing Rick Rude & Manny Fernandez when they beat the Rock & Roll Express on TV for the world tag-team titles in a match where it seemed that most of it was Ricky Morton standing in the middle of the ring in some sort of wristlock); Jones was wearing a hat to cover his head, but in the celebration after "Raging & Ravishing" won, it got knocked off - and he shrugged it off rather than make a big deal about trying to cover his head.

A couple of different sites say "Avicii stopped performing in 2016, telling fans he was suffering from health problems. He had acute pancreatitis, which was partly because of drinking too much, Variety noted. The DJ’s appendix and gallbladder were removed in 2014."

It's not a huge stretch to think it could be related.

Ms. Tajima was born just two months before my maternal grandfather. Of course he's been dead for thrity five years, but this still makes me think of him too.

I have an aunt who used to ride with Hell's Angels. When she died (at 86!), her "old man" had her decked out in her riding leathers in her coffin.

If you want to catch an extra point, you'll want him to croak before he turns 94 on June 12. I think he's going to make it long past that, they say he's responding to treatment.

Again per our Shroom's inventory, 33 players may or may not be poised to pick up 6 or 7 points this year due to having picked Bush 41.

Maybe I'm just stoned, maybe I'm just paranoid, but something tells me we need to add Van Morrison to this list. I don't know if it's possible to swap out a name on my list, but if so, please add Van Morrison. "Caravan" from the Last Waltz just came on, and something tells me his years of very hard living will catch up to him. I sure hope not.

Well there's a name I've read a thousand times.

The Partridge Family, The Rookies, Soap, I'm A Big Girl Now, Benson, It's A Living, Dead Poets Society, The Golden Girls, Herman's Head, Blossom, Empty Nest, The John Larroquette Show...

Martial Arts Master Jhoon Rhee, Who Taught Bruce Lee To Kick And Gave Muhammad Ali A New Punch, Is Dead.

"Rhee, a leading proponent of martial arts in the U.S. from the 1970s on, has died. The longtime resident of the Washington, D.C. area was 86 years old.

Rhee, a Korean immigrant, taught self-defense to America’s power people, with a client list that included presidents (Lyndon Johnson and George H.W. Bush), speakers of the house (Newt Gingrich and near-miss Bob Livingston), movie icons (Bruce Lee, who Rhee said did not know how to throw a kick before their sessions together) and even a world heavyweight champion: He trained with Muhammad Ali ..."

I had no idea that Jhoon Rhee was so well connected, or known at all outside the DC area. The "Nobody bothers me" commercials mentioned in the link provided by smithsb were ubiquitous during the late-late movies or afternoon reruns aimed at kids on channel 20 in Washington.
