Are we allowed to rant about modding in the Pit, now?

Given this instruction:

and given that a lot of the negative feelings directed at that thread are about how it's been modded, is that giving permission to comment negatively on the modding of that thread in the Pit?

Or was ecg saying all ATMB discussion of that thread is hereby forbidden, and rant about guns in the Pit i.e. no further discussion of the modding of that thread is allowed, effectively?

You can rant about the gun thread in the Pit (the thread itself, not the moderation).

I don't see how the discussion about the gun thread can possibly come to any resolution, so rather than having an ATMB thread that goes on forever and never accomplishes anything, we're done with that.

So that's a no on my first question, and a yes on my second, then. Feel free to close this thread, then, since you're all done on discussing the moderation there.

As I said in the other thread that you chose to close rather than allow discussion, a very reasonable solution would be to simply rename the thread to what it is, "Stories of defensive gun use." That is a neutral term, and an inoffensive title. Declaring those stories to be positive news is what is trolling. It only "goes on forever" because you want to maintain the position that these stories are positive, and it gets push back because a large number, probably the majority of posters on this board, disagree with you on that. There is an extremely simple resolution that you refuse to implement, for... reasons? You have renamed other threads that you didn't think described the OP accurately, or renamed threads to better fit in with the board culture that you prefer. That you do not rename this thread, and in fact shut down any discussion about it, means that you feel that the OP is reflected accurately in the title, and that it fits in well with the board culture that you foster as a mod.

It's not trashing the thread to ask that it be accurately titled, unless you feel that the title of Positive Gun News accurately describes all of the stories that have been presented by the gun advocates in that thread. You choose to pose it as we are opposed to the thread itself, and that is a very ignorant and becoming at this point willfully ignorant description of our position. We have no problem with the thread, that of stories of defensive gun use, we have a problem that this board officially endorses gun violence and proliferation. It's not venting to point out that some of us don't want to post on a board that stands for these "values".

I take that if you stand by your statement that you consider the official position of the board to be that stories of gun violence and proliferation are a positive, and that there is no discussion that will sway you from this extremely pro-gun stance?

If that is the case, then you are correct, there is no reason for any further discussion*, the mods have made their choice as to the political leaning of the board, in opposition to the majority of its posters. If not the case, then why are you doubling down on this extremely poorly received moderation?

Can you tell me why you feel that a thread full of gun violence and proliferation is better named as "positive", rather than the more accurate and less inciting of "defensive?" You still have not given your reasoning on this, just shut down discussion rather than answering a rather simple question, and accusing us of venting for asking you this.

If you don't want to give your "reasons" for making the official board policy that gun violence and proliferation are positives, could you at least give your other political positions that you will enforce through moderation so as to not run into this problem again? That would be appreciated.

I will be disappointed, but not surprised, that rather than address the issue, you choose to close this thread in order to maintain this board's officially moderator sanctioned and protected endorsement of gun violence and proliferation. I made this a bit long and fit everything I can in here, as I kinda expect a mod note that I am not to ever talk about this topic anymore as well, as you are probably getting pretty tired of being asked to use reason and logic, rather than simple partisanship, to make decisions as to moderation. If so noted and I am put under a topic ban about it, I won't push it and get my first warning over it, so you have the power to shut me up about this, all you have to do is demonstrate how much you value keeping this board finding gun violence and proliferation to be positive news over the objections of many of its posters.

*and I don't mean just on this topic, I mean on this board in general. If mods are going to start enforcing their preferred political stances, then there really is very little reason to keep this board running.

Moderator Action

We are not continuing the discussion from the closed thread in this thread, either. This is closed.
