I'm Up So I'm Startin' The MMP

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffienatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear (I'll give 'em that cause the moon is all bright and shiny. Does that mean it's mostly moony out?), with a predicted high of 50 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall defilthyfy da cave today. Tonight is men's night over to the church house so I shall head on over there around fourish to set up. I have no designs on leavin' da cave until then.

If this, indeed, is the new MMP, then I have no specific topic. Not that havin' a topic matters cause that ain't what we're about. So, just natter on about stuff as usual folks.

flytrap you are right. Today is a holiday so no trash pickup. Oh well, I'll just say I am extra early gettin' the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can down to the road for pickup.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Moanday Y'all!

When I let Higgs out this morning, it was 12 according to my outdoor thermometer. She was quick about her business, so I'm sure that's an accurate reading. I'll have baby duty today because FCD will need daughter and SIL to do some work for him in the shop. The only other thing I have to do is get together documentation for our HELOC application.

No plans to leave the house today - we shall see how that works out.

Happy Moanday!!

Just checked the good weather site: 1.9 degrees out, windchill of -12 degrees. Everything solid outside.

Happy Moonday!

It is a frigid 9 feels like 9 below degrees outside.
My son stayed up because the cat wanted out and wouldn't come back in, so he went to check the door all night so poor kitty didn't freeze his ass off.
Ripple stuck his nose out the door this morning and said, that's alright, I can hold it.

I don't need to go out today and I have no intention of doing so.

I had a dream about you last night Swampy, and you were an INJR and I said is that because you like to INJuRe people, and we all laughed because we all know that isn't true. For some reason, all of us MMPers were taking a bus trip together, with a few of us getting off in Silver Spring to go to the hospital for surgery. The rest were going on down to Florida.
Very weird.

Our trash is getting picked up today, I hear the trucks out there now. Ripple is supervising from his bench under the window.

Nothing special to do today. Making tacos for my son for dinner, shrimp with broccoli for me. I'll finish off the cabbage soup for lunch.

I need to call directv to cancel some free thing that I'll start being charged for in February. I think I watched one of the channels once or twice. Nothing I would pay extra for. TV is shit anymore anyway. I can't wait for my contract to be up so I can cancel directv. I'm pretty happy with the firestick.

I need to remember to cancel the XM for my car. The latest bill is over $200 and I barely listen an hour a day. I'll just put my case of CDs in the car and tolerate the static on NPR - I mean electronic static, not political static! The curse of living in the boonies - limited broadcast radio available.

Daughter is up and feeling better. She's shoveling food into Roxy's face right now. I need to shower and dress so I can take over babby duty.

Happy moanday.

Not much to report from up 'ere; the weather's mostly cloudy with the odd spot of sun peeping through and the odd patch of rain. There's faint rumours of the S word in a week or so, but I suspect it'll be a speck of sleet if it happens at all. People round here rarely get to panic about actual snow, so they have to make do with panicking about the mere possibility of it maybe happening at some point in the future.

I'm giving the tiny plants a break from being Looked At today, there's not enough to do there to warrant almost 2 hours of driving. I'm still working my way through all the skool irk I have to do, but I need a scanner to do the bit I'd most like to be doing (it's in next week). Unfortunately, the whole site is actually closed today, so I'm having to do other things.

It's stupid cold out this morning: temp was -6 when I woke up, without windchill. And we still have no snow to speak of. But that will change tonight/tomorrow. I guess we're supposed to get something around 4 inches by the time Wednesday morning comes around.

My weekend was, in general, uneventful. My kids are cute and annoying. Laundry never stops. My son likes picking his nose... a lot.

I saw a wonderful play yesterday. Luckily, I could get there by subway, and didn't have to do too much walking outside in the snowstorm.

It looks like we're going back to Japan for another visit. My kids love going back to the place where they were born.

Beta-chan (for those who remember her) is now 10 and is fascinated by the fact that she has different DNA background than her classmates. There are only a few other students in the whole school who are mixed or biracial.

Morning all. Slept until after 8am today, to make up staying awake until after midnight Sunday. Did go out and (briefly) look at the eclipsed moon, but it was almost directly overhead and between the cold and my old neck, couldn't watch for long.

Guess I'm in a warm spot compared to many, 26F now going to 38F according to the weather folks.

Need to make myself presentable. Take care all.

Midget, what play?

FCM, but if you listen to XM for an hour a day, that's only 0.54 cents a day! I still get it because I am quick on the channel change and I get more options that way.

FCM, I saw your mention of Higgs. I'm about to take my Mauser outside, then on to PetSmart and buy him a sweater. Or should it be the other way "round?

It's still very cold here with snow on the ground. Dachshunds have a problem with snow if they are smooth coated, like Mauser.

Higgs will not wear a sweater. She goes out long enough to pee or poo, then right back in. Cozmo will stay out longer, but even he has limits. They're wearing fur coats - how cold can they be?

I gave RoxStar a bottle, hoping she'd nap. HAH!! The kid does NOT like to sleep. She's exhausting!

I debate getting rid of Sirius, I drive so little. But I appreciate it on the drive to the armpit, when I'd have to be scanning for channels the whole time.

When I was worried about the cat being out last night I was reading about animals and the cold and some man said if the temps drop below 60 he won't let his dogs stay outside. I thought I sure hope he doesn't have huskies, poor dogs. I think most animals can handle 60 and below pretty well. I saw a chart one time about how dogs and cats and comfortable temperatures. I can't remember most of it but I remember most long haired or husky type dogs are happy in 30 degree temps. The HFH had a malamute and that dog was happiest in a blizzard. She would roll on the snow and lay on her back until she was covered with snow. I had a poodle mix who would not come inside in cold weather. One night I was in tears because he wouldn't come in and it was freezing outside. The next morning I couldn't find him, then I saw a pile of leaves in the corner of the yard start to move. He had buried himself under the leaves and was all frisky and happy.
Of course, Ripple with his short coat wouldn't last long in freezing temps. Adam seems to like it, but he has a very thick and fuzzy fur coat. Maybe I'll get a little house for him and put it on the back porch. I could probably use the crate Ripple was shipped in, take the door off, put an old blanket over it, and a little blanket inside.

Many Summers ago I saw a woman walking a Husky in a park on a long leash. He got into one of the park pools and wouldn't come out.

I figure when I call to dump XM, they'll offer me a better rate. If they halve it, I may keep it. When we first got it, it was under $100/year. Latest bill is $233. Nope.

FCM... do you like your XM? My car is equipped with it, but I bought it used so I didn't get any trial period to see if I like XM or not. So I just haven't bought it. I've debated getting it, especially for long drives to see my out-of-state family. It would be nice to listen to the same station the whole way instead of having to remember CDs/MP3 player or be switching stations every couple of hours.

It's 40F here right now and not raining, at the moment. Trying to decide if it's worth it to drive all the way to Costco for TP and paper towels. If they still had those fruitcakes they had before Xmas, I'd do it, but I suspect they're all gone. Prolly just as well. Wifey's on weight watchers again, so I'm eating healthier too, whether I want to or not. Not that I'm losing any weight, mind you. My body doesn't work like that. The only diet that has ever worked for me was Atkins, and I was hungry all the time.

The other day I was comparing the rolls of Charmin we get from Costco to the rolls we get at Freddy's. Freddy's rolls are much smaller, even though the package (from Freddy's) crows about how big the rolls inside are. They also cost about half again as much.

I think I'll see if Wifey wants anything from Costco.

The kids got Wifey an XM receiver for her car for Xmas a few years ago. I asked if she wanted me to install it. She said "No way!" I don't know what ever happened to it. She prolly gave it away.

Went outside last night when the eclipse was supposed to be almost total. Moon was covered by clouds. Took the dogs outside 2 hours later, when it was all over, clouds were gone.

Oh well.

Howdy Y'all! Da cave is spiffed and I am chillin' until time to head over to the church house. When I bought twuck it had a year's subscription to XM. I would listen some, but I like to ride in silence so I did not pony up the money when it expired. OYKW is the same way. 'Tis still somewhat cold out but N.O.S. so there's that. Also the wind is not fierce anymore.

Laterz!

Juliet - personally, I can take it or leave it. Mostly I listen to the comedy channels, which are terribly repetitive, or NPR, which doesn't have either Morning Edition or All Things Considered. FCD loves it - he listens to NPR, MSNBC, 60s, 70s, classic vinyl, and a few other music stations he likes.

I have to admit, it is nice for long trips, but for my daily commute, it's just not a big deal. I'd be just as happy with a CD or even silence.

I've been getting together the stuff the credit union wants for hour loan application. All we need is FCD's 1099, which is supposed to come this week. I also think we have all our statements for our taxes. I'm so glad we've got an accountant doing it for us - with the business, it's just too complex for me.

I think I'll throw together a shepherd's pie for supper. Other than that, nothing planned.

I listen to the radio a lot at home. I like satellite radio but I've never had it in any form.
I don't really listen to stuff while commuting. Usually while commuting, I'm snoozing or half-asleep anyway. Unless some annoying person is yammering on their phone, which happens too often.

I just saw something on Jeopardy! that reminds me of how far we have come in what people feel free to say. It was kind of cool.

The champion hit a daily Double. He'd already double his score once, and was now sitting at 26000 dollars. Alex teased him "I know you want to do it" and told him that if he was successful he'd have the highest score ever for one day.

I could tell the dude was tempted, but then he said "My husband would kill me!" Nice he could say that.

The only time I listen to the radio is in the truck. When I'm home I'll listen to a youtube playlist. I can pick what I want and don't have to listen to crappy stuff. Then again, I miss out on hearing new stuff.

Shrimp and broccoli was good. I think I could have eaten the whole pan, but that would just be piggy. So, I'll have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow, or maybe put some of it into an omelet for breakfast.

I'm so sleepy right now. I shouldn't be, I had a long nap this afternoon.
I'm going to blame it on the cold even though it's warm in the house.

Mooooom, Sirius sent me an offer of $6 for six months and $36 for the following six months and I took them up on it. I don't listen to it on my commute (less than 15 minutes in a suburban market with three good NPR stations) but I like it when I hit the road. Given that I have no CD player in the car and Pandora tends to drain my phone's battery on long trips (can't sync it and charge at the same time), it's a good option.

TB, it doesn't seem like Beta Chan should be 10 already.

baker, Mauser will likely do his business while the car warms up, then you can take him to PetSmart.

flytrap, while Nelson wasn't a fan of the water at PupSwim, I had a ball watching the labs, poodles and huskies play.

bumba, I've given up trying to do TP math. Whenever I get down to the last inner package, I go to Staples for a bale if they've sent a $10 coupon or Kroger if they haven't. With just me here, I only have to do that about three times a year.

Nelson doesn't wear a sweater, but if I'm wearing my heavy coat, he has a coat like this that I put on him: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Reversible-Fleece-Jacket-Medium/dp/B07F4B555B/ref=asc_df_B07F4B555B/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt= e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589103252197&psc=1 His is green and my coat is red, so we look like Santa and her elf when we go for a walk. I like this much better than a sweater because it's easy on/easy off with the velcro.

It was soooooooo coooooooold in my corner of the plant today. This is the first winter in this area and we're by an overhead door used by building maintenance. I had so many layers on that I would have been like that little kid in A Christmas Story had I fallen. It's supposed to be up to 50F tomorrow, which will be a welcome change from the 24F that I went to irk in.

Evening all. Just got a call from my brother and SIL, he's been released from the horsepistol and was on his way to get his new prescriptions filled. Still has some trouble with words, but sounds strong.

Completed nappage this afternoon and need to forage for dinner here in a minute.

Red, love Nelson's jacket and hope your little corner of the world gets warmer.

Cupcakes, nice little story there; sometimes I think folks expect this giant leap in humanity in all types of social progress, but it is often measured in many, many tiny steps. Glad to see another one taken.

Sari, My niece's Mastiff loves the snow, despite being a fairly short-haired dog. depends on the breed and the animal's personality, I guess.

Worked, came home, napped. Making jerk chicken style Bachelor Chow to ward off the cold. It was 22 this morning when I took Gordie out, and it's...21 now.

I did the $25 extended 5 month tria' It's worth it for B.B. King's Bluesville and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville channel(and the 40's channel is the bee's knees too!)

red, Gordie likes to run around in his birthday suit, even when It's cold.

I got Mauser his sweater. I ended up not taking him with me though, and guesstimating the size. It's perfect as it turns out, I put it on him when I got home. Now to go out way early to do his thing, as I'm going in really early to work.

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffeinatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 34 Amurrkin out and clear (OK, dark) with a predicted high of 57 and mostly cloudy for today. TWPTB say the high tomorrow will be 73. Today is laundry day. Rah. Sup shall be beastloaf, mac 'n cheese, peas 'n butterbeans with okra, collard greens, and corn bread. I have a gnawin' and a cravin' for some down home comfort food. Collards got cooked yestiddy and the beastloaf is one I made up and froze. I even remembered to take it out last night to thaw. Men's night was good as always and we had a good crowd.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day.

Happy Tuesday Y'all!

The closest I came to going out yesterday was when I opened the door for Higgs. Not so lucky today - 11 to start, but 50 forecast for tomorrow. Stoopit weather...

Looks like I'll be back to working full-time for a bit - THANKS, JOSH!! I was just going to add Firdays, but now I'll do a full schedule till things slow down. My life is such a trial <pose of woe and despair>

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Toosday!

It's a still dark, chilly 9 degrees outside.
Suppose to warm up to 28 today.

Today I want to call the electric company to see when the meter reader comes out. Ripple got out of the yard last night because the neighbor's gate was open. That's the only person I know of who uses her gate. If it was the meter reader then I'm not too worried, but if somebody else is using the gate then we know we have to check it before we let Ripple out.

Morning all. 35F on the way to 50F today so I may get out more. But rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow...

Otherwise a quiet day with possible housecleaning if I can work up the energy.

All y'all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight. It's a balmy 19 degrees at the moment. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 60.

Brent asked me to get 2 drawings updated and into the system - turns out there were sub-drawings that needed to be fixed also, Not even halfway done - I even ran 20 minutes past my usual lunch break and didn't realize it. I think it's going to be a busy few weeks.

For now - food!

It wasn't the meter reader who left the gate open. I figured it wasn't because my bill usually runs from the 29th to the 29th. And they were closed yesterday. Lucky for them, I'd hate to have to have been out walking yesterday.
I tried to catch the neighbor before she left for irk this morning to see if she knew of anybody who might be going in and out. Not that it's really any of my business, it's her gate. I have never known her to use it, she keeps her trash cans in front of the gate so she doesn't have to open it to take the trash out. I seldom see her out back anyway, we take care of both back yards. I figure we are the ones using it, we should do the mowing and trimming.
I guess if she ever moves I'm going to have to put a fence between us. Or buy that side of the house.

Time for lunch. I can't decide what I want.

I might sign up for a 3 month free trial. I have a road trip coming up in that time, so I can test out if I like it for around town and for a road trip.

I may be scarce the rest of the week. My boss is going to be joining me intermittently over the next few days while I work machine side. We have a huge project coming up that's a must-do-can't-fail kind of thing, and I'm a little behind on my part. I gotta stop hanging out on the Dope, I guess. It's going to be rough. We work well enough together, but when she's breathing down my neck, it really gets to me. I like to do things digitally, and she's a print a million pages kind of person. She'll print all this stuff out for me, then wonder why I'm not marking it up. I mark it up digitally so I don't lose it, and if I get hit by a bus tomorrow, it's all there for my teammates to find. No one has to dig through my desk, wondering which version of this printed crap is the most up to date. Plus, I don't have to dig through my desk wondering which version of this printed crap is up to date. The most up to date stuff is in the project folder, easy to find and manage.

Dinner last night was biryani made with riced cauliflower instead of rice. It was good. I'd never done it before. Also I got to use the cuisinart food processor for the first time that a friend gave us a while back when she moved. 'Twas fun, but kinda a PITA to clean up.

Didn't make it to costco after all. TMI warning! Had another bout of diarrhea. One of my meds gives me diarrhea, plus I'm lactose intolerant, so it doesn't take much to set me off. I'd take the version of the med that doesn't give me the scoots, but it's >$500.00/mo. /TMI

I may go today, if I can get my butt in gear.

Wouldn't it be better if you got your butt out of gear?

Ripple is driving me crazy today. He needs to run and play, but he wants to do it indoors instead of out. I'll be happy when it warms up a bit and he can burn off his energy outdoors.

I got some laundry done today. Cleaned the bathroom except for the tub and floor, that is my son's job. Cleaned my bedroom except for the vacuuming, also my son's job. He can vaccum the stairs, hall, bathroom, and bedroom at the same time. There's never much to do in my bedroom, it's the easiest room in the house to keep clean.

Howdy Y'all! I laundered, folded, ahrned, and put stuff where it stays until dirtied up again. Plus, I made sup which has been et. Plus also, the kitchen is all cleanded up. I have been the adultiest adult who ever adulted! The low temp tonight is forecasted at 53 Amurrkin (the temp as I post) with a high of 73 tomorrow. Rain allegedly will come in Wednesday night and then a cool down. January cannot make its mind up!

ETA: My laptop is fixed and on its way back to me via FedEx. YAY!

doggio, Gordie may like to go outside buck nekkid because he has a little more insulation than Nelson does.

Yay for the fixed laptop swampy!

I got a birthday surprise in the mail today. Sis made me some oven handle towel hangers and actually got them in the mail. Usually, she puts it off until she's on her way up anyway and just hand delivers gifts. I'll give her a call tonight to thank her.

Beta-chan, Didi (younger brother) and my wife are up to Taiwan Grandma's for a couple of days during their winter holidays. Chinese New Year is coming up soon.

My how the house is quiet without a couple of kids practicing the piano or violin, singing, laughing, complaining or fighting.

Thanks for remembering her.

She's in 4th grade and Didi is in 2nd. Pough would have been in 6th. Both kids take violin, and Beta-chan is also taking piano. They take kendo and are involved in an environmental group for kids. Far busier than I was as a child.

They enjoy school and have more friends that I did. Typical kids now.

There was road construction happening on my way home from irk that slowed me down by a half hour. I stopped at the grocery store and came home and made dinner. Now about to lie down but must get up early as tomorrow is maid day and I have to clean before she gets here. Not really but I do like to have the laundry started and the dishwasher doing it’s thing before I leave for irk.

Y’all stay warm.

Happy Hump Day!

Woke up at 4, never got back to sleep.

It's a not so bad 30 degrees outside, supposed to get up into the 40s today.
I'm waiting for the sun to come up, then I'll take the brat to daycare. I'm not sure it's doing much good for him.

I'm making pork chops with fart blossoms for dinner tonight. My son is on his own, whatever he wants to make for himself.

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffeinatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 53 Amurrkin out and cloudy (dark, actually) with a predicted high of 74 and mostly cloudy for the day. Rain is supposed to move in tonight and tomorrow's high will be today's low. Weather by Sybil as doggio would say. Today is lay in provisions day. I shall purchase shrimpies for tonight's sup of shrimp 'n grits. I envision spareguts as the vegetative matter. Tomorrow we shall sup on last night's leftovers.

And now this....

<AHEM> CLEARIN' THROAT <AHEM>

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR MMMOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!!!!

BTW, she is six months and six days older than me.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, I must purtify and don goin' about the public attire to go to the Pubic Sto'. Such a bother!

Happy Hump Day Y'all!

Awwwww, thanks swampster, you old geezer! If I may offer the advice of the additional 6 months and 6 days of wisdom - don't wait too long to apply for Medicare. My application is finally in the works, but I should have done it 2 months ago. I fear this idiotic shutdown will delay it further.

I beat you, Sari - I woke at 2 and have been up ever since. Not amused at all!

We'll see how well I survive the day. It started badly - the soda machine in our break room is screwy, so I had to get my caffeine fix from the machine on the shop floor. Fortunately, they had Diet Coke in there. I may need to get another before the morning is out.

Such is life. Happy Wednesday!

Normally I'd already be at work but there was an ice storm yesterday, in the early evening, and then it switched to snow. The cafe is located in the library and it isn't opening until noon today. We will open a little earlier, to serve the staff. I can't imagine we will be busy. I'm going to take a show, dress warmly, and get to work about 8:30 or so.

Mauser wore his sweater again this morning and was glad for it I think. It's going to take a while to warm up the car and get the ice of of it.

Happy Birthday MMMOOOOOOOOOOMMM!

At least I can take a nap sometime today.
One good reason to take the brat to daycare, yesterday he wouldn't let me nap.

The kid and the dog had breakfast, now to fix something for me.
Which means the dog will get a second breakfast.
