Sure, why not? If Trump gets taken down by either an aging adult film star or a middling comedian, that may be the most fitting end for this fucking circus.
Hey, "we" just sent Dennis Rodman to help ithe Pres. in an important strategic photo-op with North Korea. It's a new world of alternative facts and fake news. Curiouser, Tom Arnold may bring just the level of thought free sanity we need to feed our heads. Feed our heads.

There ya go. I always thought of it as defense attorneys acting like fruit mongers testing for soft spots on an apple. You never know where you might find a little bruised spot that can later be exploited as an issue on appeal. Or they might learn about a weakness in the prosecution's case. And if nothing else, it doesn't hurt to ask.

My understanding of Mueller's cases against Manafort is that they are predominantly document cases, which makes them fairly airtight. IOW, you can't argue against proof of Manafort's guilt when it is presented almost exclusively by way of admitted exhibits comprised of official records, rather than testimony. The only testimony you need in such a case is that of impartial persons who can authenticate the documents.

Manafort's attorneys' underlying foundation for their motion to dismiss is a little convoluted, as you might expect.

Here is an article that takes up the nuances of the motion in more detail, if you're interested.

You can see how this issue might be taken up on appeal to test whether Judge Berman Jackson's ruling was a correct interpretation of the law. (I think it was.)

Tom Arnold is full of it. This is a man who married Roseanne Barr as a way to get into show business.

This. The Civil Service system and all the people in it were supposed to have no political interests or agendas at all, and not be beholden to any politician or political spoils system.

Overheard at a dinner he hosted Friday night, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, joking to the crowd:
Quote:
“If you get me one more glass of wine, I’ll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know. If you think you’ve seen wild stuff so far, buckle up. It’s going to be a wild couple of months.”

Am I being too pessimistic to think that the results of Mueller's investigation may well turn out to be unprecedented in American history, but will make no real difference for this administration, this Congress, and the current state of the Republican party? I've really been feeling lately that I just won't be able to withstand and outlast the unceasing onslaught of wrongness.

There are certain contexts in which I enjoy Tom Arnold's work - he makes an acceptable comic sidekick - but the word "credible" is not the first one that springs to mind when I think of him.

If you could convince Trumpco of this, maybe they'd mellow out a little.

Maybe send them a note to let them know it's going to be alright and they don't have to worry so much?

Mueller has Erik Prince's phones and computers. Prince says he's been "cooperating" with the Mueller investigation.

If Betsy DeVos has done anything illegal, I hope she discussed it with her brother. It would be nice to see her get snared too.

Supposedly, Cohen is asking the judge to disregard any and all documents and evidence that relates to Trump. Again.

Apparently Nunes and Gowdy's gang aren't satisfied with having thousands of classified documents in their possession. Even today, they're threatening impeachment of DoJ officials. I guess they won't be satisfied until they are able to use all of the documents and recreate their own reality to compete with those of impartial investigators.

So there you have it: Republicans in Congress, despite saying all along that the president shouldn't fire Mueller, are colluding with Trump to discredit the investigation first -- then he can be fired after the mid-terms, I suppose.

For all the Trumpists who got excited that maybe Federal Judge T. S. Ellis was on their side because he made comments that the special counsel should not have "unfettered power" in conducting his investigation/prosecution of Paul Manafort... Womp, WOMP. (Reuters)

Quote:
Judge T.S. Ellis in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia ruled that Mueller was properly appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in May 2017 and has the authority to prosecute Manafort.

“Because the Special Counsel’s appointment was consistent with both Constitutional requirements regarding appointment of officers and statutory requirements governing the authority to conduct criminal litigation on behalf of the United States, the Special Counsel had legal authority to investigate and to prosecute this matter and dismissal of the superseding indictment is not warranted,” Ellis wrote in his opinion.
Remember, too, that Mueller provided this judge with an unredacted copy of Rosenstein's memo granting Mueller's team authority to pursue the charges. Wonder what he saw.

It looks like Little Rocket Man is rebuilding his nuclear shit.

New satellite imagery indicates that North Korea is rapidly upgrading its nuclear research center. Oops.

So much for Mister Deal Maker. He sold us out AGAIN. Putin must be so proud of his bitch.
