I was very concerned that the 4th of July stuff was over first thing on Monday morning, as I hadn't completed the Rocket's Red Glare quest. I finished it today and still got the Liberty Bell. This makes me happy.

I am building Zesty's now and then I think I am all caught up on quests until they launch a level 31. I am kind of glad to have the time to devote to Squidport and build up some cash reserves. 1110

Yeah, I still got he liberty bell as well. I put it by the church and it kind of looks like a church bell.

Per TSTOTips.com, there was a server error and things are back up.

I just converted my row of cheap brown homes into summer cottages along the waterfront. I think it looks pretty cool (and I totally admit to ripping it off from the above mentioned site) but I also have to remember that I moved them for monies collecting purposes. I now have an undecorated spot where the houses used to be and I'm thinking of converting that into a park and moving my smaller, existing park over to it. 1118

Second, Herman's has dropped down to $166,000.

Well, yeah. You have to have built the main building from the previous level before the next level kicks off. Except for a few weird progression glitches, I think that's how it always works.

It's too bad making your place look nice can only swing your multiplier a few points one way or the other. During the time while I was waiting for Level 31 to come out I thought about putting in some bigger parks or outdoor theaters* (composed of fences/bushes/parking spaces/meters(vanity points)), but the most that would have done is brought me from 3.5 or 4 stars up to 5. Basically, it would have made my town look nice, but still a waste of money at a time when I need to save. I'm glad I've been scrimping and got myself up to about 700K. I just bought Herman's, so I'm down a few hundred thousand, but at least I'll have another character (and I'm glad I waited so long to get it).

*ETA, I've seen drive in theaters, but when I went to go find a picture, I found that amphitheater looking thing too. I'm not even entirely sure how they did that. 1126

That seems interesting - that will be cool to send characters over to a new area.

I started rebuilding some of my Springfield. I don't want to shake everything up completely, but I've been reading about making 3D effects over at http://tstotips.com and wanted to try it. I "elevated" my town hall after moving it to a more central location. I think it looks OK, but I'm not 100% on it. When characters walk through hedges or walls to get to the building, it kind of ruins it for me.

In the new Level 31 campaign, one of the characters does make a remark about being able to track the townspeople during a bit of dialog. I thought that was fairly amusing -- I'm sure I'm not the only player who would like a way to scroll through the characters to help see what they're doing and assign them a task if needed. 1130

Well, as you said the Temple gives you Lenny and Carl. After that, I would just go from cheapest to most expensive. Building El Chemistri gets Comic Book Guy off your sidebar but the Hospital gives Dr Hibbert a 1 hour job.

I would probably go for Turban Outfitters next so you can keep moving forward on Squidport quests. The whole Squidport thing is very slow moving since those tiles take a long time to build. While you're at it, just keep building those, regardless of the cost, as soon as one is finished, build the next. I'm at the point where they're taking 2 days to build (and you can only build one at a time. Also, you have to place them in the water for them to count towards the quest.

When I was in your position, I was alternating between Squidport stuff and the rest of the things they were asking me to build (but always building tiles).

ETA, On the one hand, Squidport is supposed to be permanent so you probably don't need to be in any rush to finish it, but I'd hate to find out that you need to be at a certain level there to start something else either on the mainland or, for example, in Krustyland or some other thing that shows up at some point. So you probably don't want to completely ignore it and end up falling a month behind. 1132

She does have a babysit task, but it now requires one of the kids(Rod, I think). Isn't that right? I think I got a task for her to do just that. 1144

I was just told to have her babysit Rod and Todd. However, I noticed that when I put her on the (8 hour) task A)both kids were gone and B)it's only paying me for one character. Generally tasks that take multiple characters (interrogating a suspect/make Smithers exercise for Burns/what ever that new guy does to Ned where he shakes him etc) you get paid for all the people involved.
I wonder if that task is just going to be a one off thing.
It's not that big of a deal, it's just that at 10pm I put all my characters on an 8 hour task and try to be done with the game until morning. If I have characters that don't have 8 hour tasks available to them I end up putting them on 1 or two hour tasks and then picking up the tablet again later and putting them on 6 hour tasks around midnight.
I mean, I could put them on a longer task earlier in the night, but why lose the money. 1145

I haven't put any real money into it. I have only been playing since February. The only premium items I have are ones I have received through the Mystery Box and ones you could earn through special events like Whacking Day. I did manage to save up 60 donuts and I finally spent them on Bumblebee Man. Donuts well spent. There are a lot of cool things that you can buy. I almost succumbed to Lincoln, but I did not cave. Part of me is proud of my little town I built without money, but part of me wants all the shiny toys too. Also, no hacks. I was tempted, but didn't end up doing it. 1148

pretty much sums up how I feel too. I have 29 donuts now, so I'll keep saving them and just keep playing. Hopefully there will be more special events in the future! 1149

Those of you who pay more attention to the economics of the game. I have about 100 donuts (collected from the beginning). What one (or maybe two) things should I buy to give me the most return? I'm guessing something with a character to do tasks, but which one? 1150
