"Bullitt" Mustang sold for 3.4-million

One of the two 1968 Mustang GT Fastbacks Steve McQueen drove in Bullitt sold at auction in Florida.

The father of the current owner bought it decades ago for $3,400 and his mother drove it to work for years before it was laid up on jackstands in a shed. Interview.

A friend of mine who collects classic cars mentioned that to me. He was interested (in the "Wouldn't it be neat to own that" sense), but I don't think he made any serious attempts at bidding.

My friend said that he's surprised it went for that low--he was expecting it to fetch at least 5 million.
