RIP D. A. Pennebaker

Legendary film verité director D. A. Pennebaker has died at age 94. Of course the first time I got aware of him was through "Don't Look Back", still one of the most important insights into the eternal enigma that is Dylan. I've never seen the whole film, but the famous concert footage of Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding et al. I know from his Monterey 1967 documentary is fantastic. Sadly, the follow up to "Don't Look Bad", "Eat The Document", about Dylan's legendary electric tour of Britain in 1966, never got a proper release.

Yeah, if nothing else, his work on Monterrey Pop is beautiful. Documentary is hard to work with, but he and his crew caught a fantastic moment there.

My cite would be Rollin' and Tumblin'.
