It's plain who will win the Game of Thrones.

After all....what did Dany see on the throne in her vision in the second season?

Or maybe it was just in the throne room

Those were warlock-created/inspired visions, not actual visions of the future. They were meant to placate her to stay with the warlocks. The destroyed iron throne was nothing worth fighting over, and if she stayed, she could be with Drogo again. It was manipulation.

Remind me - did it show her on the throne?

Snow. There was snow on the throne.

As for being warlock inspired. Possibly, but it did appear as it is, and she had never seen the throne before.

No, it showed a destroyed throne room with snow falling onto the throne.

Edit: You can't reconcile Drogo and her unborn son being alive and well with the idea that it was predicting the future. It was all part of the same manipulation. They were saying "forget your dreams for the throne, it's doomed. Stay here, where you can be with your husband and son"

She might be seeing them cause she's dead in that future

...or you could be right and my prediction comes true accidentally. I'd put money in a betting pool that Jon survives to rule alone in a pyrrhic victory and she doesnt.

While I would very much prefer a good deal more GOT, I confess that viewed that way it seems like enough time to tell almost any story.

My money says Dany will survive long enough so she can have a miracle baby with Jon and miracle baby will somehow win the game of thrones and go on to become "the stallion who mounts the world."

I have no idea how they can pull this off but I have bad feeling this is the direction things will flow.

Just saw the 2012 dystopic sf shoot-'em-up Dredd, with Lena Headey (Cersei) as Ma-Ma, the scarred ex-prostitute head of a drug cartel:

IIRC it was unclear if it was snow falling on King's Landing, or ashes.

I could see Dany dying and Jon with a Pyrrhic victory. Almost any victory has to be, right? GRRM isn't writing about a happy ending, although I could see the show ending being happier than what he had in mind.

Also, Dredd was awesome.

It's pretty clearly snow. Watch when she walks outside at the end.

But I don't think they'd use a pun to foreshadow Jon's ascension to the throne. If it is meant as foreshadowing, I think it's more likely to show that winter (and an ice dragon?) will come to King's Landing.

Well, when she goes outside, she's at the Wall, not in King's Landing anymore. No surprise there would be snow there. But I agree it sure looks like snow in the Iron Throne scenes.

HBO is just fucking with us. They have changed the length of episode 3 from an hour to an hour and 22 minutes on their schedule.

So 432 minutes total. That's nearly four rather long feature films.

I have realized for a while there are 2 types of Song of Ice and Fire fans (well, at least), but now I have a way of succinctly saying it: Those that loved "Fire & Blood" (ie, the GRRMairillion) and those that hated it / don't care about it. I'm about halfway through and am loving it! Though I've always been a massive fan of the world building, just as much (if not more!!), than the current story we find ourselves in. It's just a great history of Westeros with some fantastic characters (HBO could make quite a show from the Dance of the Dragons period).

I just wish he'd spent all the time he spent working on that, and actually, y'know, finished ASOIF.

I think most of the hate is due to the fact that fans want him writing winds of winter instead. Anything else he does is going to be hated by a lot of his fans, specially if its GoT related.

I'm sure that most of the Fire and Blood book was basically already written as background material by GRRM for the ASOIF series. He just cleaned it up a bit. Which is far easier than figuring out / writing himself out of the pickle he has created.

Though I'm talking more of the folks that started reading it and hated it because it was too slow/dull/dry, etc.

Maisie Williams was making some talk show rounds this week and accidentally let out a major spoiler about a major character death. Watch at your own peril:

Everybody knows by this point that most characters will die in the final season. Just knowing they die probably isn't a major spoiler. The spoiler would be if they told you when or by whom (or what) they are killed.

I bet a lot of these "slips" are scripted for PR reasons. Not that GoT is in danger of losing anyone's interest at this point. But hey, they still advertise Coke too.

This one was clearly (to me, anyway) an April fools joke.

Even though I knew it had to be fake, She really sold it! Have they ever given an Emmy for a talk show skit?

So much this. Except I didn't catch it, she totally got me. It wasn't until she left the stage that Fallon's poor acting clued me in. Maisie gets the trophy - first time in several years somebody got me with an April Fool's joke.

I knew it was fake when I saw it because of the date. Even so, as soon as she lets slip the secret she looks completely believable. She is trembling, her eyes are watering, she seems scatter brained as she processes what just happened... And then she runs off the stage. I totally forgot about April Fools and just felt pure sympathy for her. Bravo to the acting! Like you said though, Fallon broke the spell before the reveal, but for a moment there I was hooked!

DesertRoomie has started watching on Netflix The Worst Witch, a sort of a distaff Harry Potter. About the second episode she commented, "That girl looks familiar." I walked over and studied a moment.

"Lyanna Mormont."

Actually, even what she said is a slight spoiler because now we know:

SPOILER:
that Arya won't die in at least the first two episodes.

Once she started asking about if it was live it was obvious it was a joke, because of course these shows are all pre-recorded. Even if she had flubbed in front of a live audience, they would never have broadcast it.

I found it interesting how much she looked like an anti-Arya, with a fancy pink hairstyle. At least she was wearing black.

I still think Varys is more than what we see. A Targaryen? The one destined to become Azor Ahai? Both? Not a eunuch at all, which will make Tyrion's questions about it hilarious.

He may end up on the throne for all we know.

I haven't seen any reviews, but to my mind Kit Harington showed some real character-actor skills in his Saturday Night Live stint. He's got a future beyond leading-man roles.

An early sketch about a Nephew Pageant, with aunts presenting their favorite nephew, did not feature GoT content---as virtually any viewer would have expected. Harington was good in it nonetheless.

I just looked at the "Who will rule Westeros?" market at Sky Bet and I wish I hadn't, as the clear favourite by a mile is someone who I would have thought a 3rd string choice

SPOILER:
Bran

Who knows if Sky's traders are making educated guesses or have been given private information?.

This may have been linked to before, but here's An Illustrated Guide to all 2,339 Deaths in Game of Thrones So Far.

Beats The Sopranos and Breaking Bad by a long shot.

Sorry I offended you; being unfamiliar with the franchise I was unaware of the timing. In any event I did not mean 'distaff HP' as a denigration but merely an elevator pitch thumbnail. Beyond the broadest strokes -- young person discovers they are a member of a magical community heretofore unknown to them and are being trained in how to use their new powers -- the stories are completely different.

How would you describe The Worst Witch in a single sentence to someone who had never heard of it before?

Loved Weiss' comment to EW about the ending:

"I'm hoping we get the 'Breaking Bad' [finale] argument where it's like, "Is that an A or an A+?,'" he said. "I want that to be the argument. I just wish we found better directors for it."

Are we allowed to ask book questions here?

What is happening with Sansa as of the latest book? In the series she goes to marry Ramsey and so forth, but in the book Ramsey marries a FakeSansa -- Jeyne somebody, daughter of some Winterfell servant -- and she's the one who escapes and gets to Castle Black.

But where is Sansa?

IIRC Sansa is still in the Vale, pretending to be Littlefinger's bastard daughter.
