A true 10/10 game.
I think I can say this without it being a spoiler: by "difficult moments", are you talking about trying to cross a net while fucking fireballs are thrown at you, or something like that?

Because I played the game almost until the end (I think), but there was one specific area I could. not. get. past. After far too many attempts, I quit the game in despair. If that section is patched, I might give it another try.

That part has been fixed to be easier, although it still isn't easy. There are reasonable checkpoints now, where it used to throw you back to the start.

Good old Meat Circus. You could actually double-jump onto the opposite side of the net and be completely immune to the fireballs. The first and last jumps were a bit trickier, but otherwise that section was much easier than its reputation.

1. Catching the knife that was thrown in a spinning wheel now works instead of being broken as can be.

2. Sliding down a ladder while the water rises is now a little more merciful.

3. Some other things in the Meat Circus now work that were broken and, I think, some checkpoints were added.

They basically made it functional.

Back to Bed is currently free on Steam. It's an artistic 3D puzzle game with a surreal twist. Very positive rating.

Guns of Icarus online is free today. It's actually a great game that no one plays, so maybe this will inject some players into it.

Brutal Legends is free on Humble Bundle for 48 hours. I do already have a Steam Key, so I guess I'll mention my ongoing offer, even if no one has seemed interested in it.

In other words, if you read this and are sad you missed the deal, PM me. I can help.

Aw what.... that game blew me away when it was released.

I tried to play it again some years ago but if I remember the controls are really wonky. Had trouble getting back in to it.

Free and compatible with current OS-s is too good to pass up, though.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is free for the next two days (as of this post) on the Humble store.

Personally I did not like that game all that much but it's not terrible and for free it is probably worth a go.

I liked the look and setting of the game. It was a bit buggy though, crashed sometimes. And I found a lot of the battles too difficult. I probably would need to start over and try a different strategy.

Both of those games are excellent. World in Conflict is 10 years old but was a great strategy game, set up like a RTS but with no base building. Black Flag is widely regarded as the best of Asscreed series, I paid $10 for it not long ago and don't regret it a bit.

World in Conflict is an awesome game. The campaign is fun but usually I despise RTS multiplayer. Not so with this game. Hopefully enough people will pick it up now it is free to revitalize the multiplayer side of this game. It really is excellent.

The original Homefront is free from Humble. I'm sure multiplayer is probably dead but it has a single player campaign.

Hell yeah ! WiC is fantastic. I suppose AirLandBattle does it too these days, but back then it was one of the if not the first RTS to accurately portray just how devastating a hot modern war is. When you get either copious arty support, on-map arty pieces or air strikes, any map looks like the surface of the fricking moon by the end of the mission. Hell, just a tank platoon crossing a suburb, rolling right over cars and gouging the roads with their treads before blowing some occupied house to smithereens in a couple shells is hella impressive to watch. War is hell indeed.

Plus the gameplay is/was right up my alley - I don't like RTSs with billions of unit to mind at the same time OR where each unit has a dozen special abilities to activate. This, however is both limited enough in scope and micro that you're kept busy enough to be engaged but not overwhelmed and can actually spend some time enjoying the huge amount of work they put into the maps (seriously, they're ridiculously detailed up close) or just watching it all go kaboom.

So, very happy about this

Another game I've found that is similar to World in Conflict is Wargame Airland Battle. No base building, lots of modern warfare units including Apaches, M1A1s, A-10s, and artillery. It also has nice detailed maps.

I almost bought a couple of copies of this a few weeks back. It has been on my list for a while, but I always turn to Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance for my RTS needs. I'm excited to give this a go this weekend.

Yup, I mentioned it, but for some reason I couldn't get into these games at all. I'm not sure if it's because the forces lack "personality" (like, WiC has all these voiced characters with their own strengths and failings) or a real scenario ; or because most of the time you spend in the game is zoomed out to the max and not directing tanks and planes around so much as blue or red boxes that say "T-71" on them and direct them to shoot at red boxes that say "Bradley" on them, if you know what I mean.

I absolutely love watching WarGame replays of battles and working the camera to look out for cinematic stuff (one replay I DL'd was a cheesy Russian deck with like 95% on-map rocket artillery with some token helos and spetnatz for spotting - when that first massive barrage was loosed it would have made Michael Bay pop a vein ) but I hate actually playing the damn thing

It was fun 18 years ago, if you like over-the-top bloody racing. But this doesn't look remastered so graphics/textures will probably be pretty basic.
