Wow, I should have done a Spirit of '76 theme. Okerlund, the Captain, and Einstein were all aged 76.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but he does have a brother Albert: who changed his name, for obvious reasons!

Yeah, and former Senate Dem leader Harry Reid said either yesterday or today that he's not long for this world. He couldn't have shared the news a couple days earlier? How inconsiderate!

At least Ray Sawyer was able to make the cover of the Rolling Stone before he died...as well as their obituary section after.

(The picture on the cover was really a drawing of three of the Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show band members including Sawyer, and apparently he went straight to the offices to buy five copies for his mother.)

The tricky part is, that site doesn't distinguish between the living and the dead. I was looking at the 1943 page, and George Harrison and Janis Joplin are right in there next to Mick Jagger and John Denver.

I'm beginning to think that someone up there is rigging this game, trying to tell us He has suspended death on selected celebrities.

But isn't keeping folks alive a goog thing? I'm confused.

Good (or bad) news for those of us with Kim Woo Bin on our lists:

On January 9, film industry representatives commented, “It seems that Kim Woo Bin, whose health has recovered a lot, will be able to greet audiences with a new project this year,” and added that he has been offered many film roles.

Hankies out, folks, because this young man should win the Death Pool.

Nine-year-old Bailey Cooper battled the disease for 15 months and was determined to hold his new sibling who was due.

Mom Rachel, 28, had her in November and Bailey named her Millie — and the day before he died, Bailey was pictured cradling the baby in his arms.

Regarding this kid, tragic though his story may be: not sure he would have been eligible, since his fame was for being sick.

No, he would have been ineligible because we're sick, but we're not that sick (picks must be over 18)

Fair enough. Out of curiosity, can we get a ruling on a reincarnation, just in case the majority of us (myself included) are wrong?

There was also Jerry Rosenberg. He was sentenced to life in prison. He subsequently had a heart attack but was successfully revived.

He then filed a lawsuit saying that he had died when his heart stopped. He argued his life had ended and he had therefore completed his sentence of life imprisonment and should be released.

The judge did not agree.

It's getting kind of strange, that it's almost two weeks into the new year and we haven't had a single selected celebrity pass. Last night I doublechecked the folks on my list and found yes, they are all still alive.

Technically, I think he was sentenced to death but it was later commuted to life in prison by the governor.

There's been 3 over in the Theme thread.
Daryl Dragon
a reserve outfielder for the Detroit Tigers 1968 Championship team (I didn't recognize the name and my Dad took me to numerous games that year and if we didn't go, we watched on TV or listened on the radio)
Gus Ganakas - Michigan State University basketball coach who was replaced after the 75-76 season but still encouraged Magic to come to State. Thanks Gus!

On January 6th, sci fi character actor W Morgan Sheppard died at age 86. My earliest memory of him is as Blank Reg on the original Max Headroom short film, which he reprised when it was reworked into a US series. He subsequently went onto tons of other sci fi and regular roles, but also many may know his son Mark Sheppard.

That's a long time. My parents made it to 64, not far behind.
