Tom Corbett can't find a woman or a black for a campaign photo? No worries, use Photoshop!

Apparently, everyone else was Photoshopped in, too.

Not really. I mean, my life is pretty good, but not good enough that I use words like "blessed" to describe myself. Now if some god saw fit to finally bring into my life the nymphomaniac coke connection with a Ferrari dealership that I've been trying to meet for 35 years, then I might use the word "blessed".

If I was a sad little Portugese Water Dog all alone (mostly) in a cramped cage in the shelter and a family came along and adopted me and gave me an enormous lawn to play on, I think I would almost certainly be very happy. I might not quite understand the concept "blessed", though.

Sadly Bo is probably deprived of that most hallowed of dog rituals : frantically running after the mailman in a blur of teeth and barks. Which is what being a good dogge is all about. Ask any dog.

Well, not any dog; my husky mix loves the mailman, and gets in the truck with him.

Maine Republican Has Not Apologized for Comparing Abortion to Rape

This may deserve its own pit thread...

Quote:
The Bangor Daily News reported on the mailers, noting that the statement made by Lockman is from a 1995 article quoting the lawmaker.

“If a woman has the right to abortion, why shouldn’t a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman?” Lockman said. “At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t in most cases result in anyone’s death.”

SOURCE: http://rhrealitycheck.org/article/20...abortion-rape/
Why any woman would ever vote for this party is beyond me.

Rape is better than abortion? Wouldn't that fit nicely on bumper stickers with his name on it?

I should've given more effort to my phrasing. My attempted joke was that Bo himself was the White House resident who'd been an Illinois state senator, because it's an easy gig with few demands.

Never mind.

Ok, this is not exactly a Republican idea, per se, but boy howdy does it exemplify teh stupid. And, you know, I for one tend to associate oil exploration with the Rs.

Oil company (fracker) supports breast cancer with pink drill bits (some of the search hits on this topic connect the company with Susan G. Komen)

Oil company - nope, service company, Baker Hughes , one of the big ones (along with Halliburton and Schlumberger) , it does supply pressure pumping services for those who wish to frac their wells, in this case they are selling drill bits to operators, and some are painted pink. Companies painting items pink in support of the Komen foundations is not entirely new, unusual in this case as drill rigs are not the normal places one might think that breast cancer awareness campaigns would be effective.
In the land market for drill bits, well they are a bit of a commodity so any differentiator helps, pink drill bits under the guise of 'a good cause' helps. So ineffective, maybe, cynical marketing, possibly, not entirely stupid though.

Expect some fist fights at the Milwaukee polls.

Open calls by pubs for their voters to "challenge" anyone they think might not be a legal voter.

Forget fistfights. I'm looking forward to the avalanche of perjury arrests after idjits challenge people and lie under oath that they had "personal knowledge." The fines alone could balance the state budget.

After Blocking Surgeon General Nominee, Republican Blames Obama For Surgeon General Vacancy
GOP SOP

Quote:
On Sunday, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd asked Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) about the NRA’s role in blocking Murthy’s confirmation, but the Republican senator dismissed the question outright.

Blunt blamed the vacancy on President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who has yet to put Murthy’s nomination to a full vote, and dismissed questions about the National Rifle Association’s efforts to block the nominee.

“The NRA said they were going to score the vote and suddenly everybody froze him,” said Chuck Todd. “That seems a little petty in hindsight, does it not?”

“Well, the president really ought to nominate people that can be confirmed to these jobs, and frankly then we should confirm them, there’s no question about that,” replied Blunt.

This argument clearly breaks down when gays come out of the closet, because otherwise the sunlight would kill them.

CROWLEY: Do you think it would have helped … had there been a surgeon general in place to kind of calm what has become the fear of Ebola?

CRUZ: Look – look, of course we should have a surgeon general in place. And we don’t have one because President Obama, instead of nominating a health professional, he nominated someone who is an anti-gun activist....

Sadly, this cannot really be considered a SRIOtD as the man in question rejected the GOP for not being racist enough. But still given the number of GOp folks stumbling to support him before he showed his mindset I thought I would remind them by posting this:

Your dog is just lulling the mailman into a false sense of security. Very tricksy those huskies! Not as tricksy as black labs though, who have convinced everyone they are just loveable who therefore haven't noticed that the BLs (as I call them) know where ALL your knives, guns and porn are.

Tricksy indeed!

Sadly, I think it's more of a Typical of a Certain Type of Politician Idea of the Day, and not restricted to party (witness Rob Blagojevich).

Former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, although the article mentions that it has been corrected and edited to include that, so I'll assume you were citing what it said when you read it.
