Florida Republican says you can kill the coronavirus by aiming a hairdryer up your nose, because he heard it on OANN.

Morons should have checked Snopes.

"[OANN] is the new Fox News, if you wanna know the truth." Really says it all, doesn't it?

This only works on republicans though, and I recommend they all do this. Bic lighter works too.

Oh not to worry. He'll gladly accept his government paid for healthcare. And also any bailout money coming his way. He just does not think anyone else should get what he gets.

One America News Network, purported to be Trump's favorite news network, has come up with some... novel ways to fight the Coronavirus.

According to Okeechobee County (Florida, of course) Commissioner Bryant Culpepper, he learned from the network that you can kill coronavirus by holding a blow dryer up to your nose.

http://twitter.com/BillyCorben/statu...40081343447040

At a previous emergency meeting, he said his son discovered a coronavirus “cure” on website that sells “nano ozone vapor” device hunters use to mask their scent from deer (he’s ordered 5 of them) and he hopes the White House is watching.

http://twitter.com/BillyCorben/statu...47894304210945

There is video.

Not only did the Republicans try to sneak in a $500 billion flush fund into the virus recovery bill that would not hold corporations accountable for what they get, they also snuck in a provision to defund Planned Parenthood.

I really wish Barack Obama would go on TV and urge everyone to listen to the doctors and stay at home. Of course, some would do the exact opposite, so in a month or two, there would be a lot less Trumpists.

As the above-cited article discusses, and the source WaPo story also discusses, the provision does much more evil beyond screwing over Planned Parenthood. Without mentioning PP by name, it excludes from the bail-out benefits any non-profit organization that receives funding through Medicaid. That would mean all kinds of agencies that provide all kinds of services to poor people.

The GOP just smuggled another awful provision into the stimulus, Greg Sargent, Washington Post, March 23, 2020.

Quote:

According to language in the bill forwarded to me by a senior Senate Democratic aide, this provision excludes "nonprofits receiving Medicaid expenditures," which would not be eligible for those loans.

This language has been interpreted in some quarters as an effort to deny funding to Planned Parenthood, a longtime GOP target. But Democratic aides think the language means a lot more than this.

Specifically, Democratic aides believe this language would exclude from eligibility for this financial assistance a big range of other nonprofits that get Medicaid funding, such as home and community-based disability providers; community-based nursing homes, mental health providers and health centers; group homes for the disabled; and even rape crisis centers.

What? That's how new drug regimens to treat diseases are tested and published, isn't it? Not FDA trials or peer-reviewed research in some quack liberal medical journal. But by sending a letter to a moronic Fox broadcaster.

What's the problem?

It gets just a tiny bit more ghastly. The drug does have a legitimate medical use, its a treatment for lupus. Lupus patients can't get what they need due to panic buying. Baby Jesus pukes His little guts out.

A man here in Arizona died and his wife is in ICU after hearing Trump talk about hydroxychloroquine and thinking the chloroquine phosphate they had on hand -- to control algae in fish tanks -- was the same thing.

There's no particular indication either were Republicans, but I'm applying Runyon's Law here.

Okay, so the Senate, controlled by turtle man and collaborating with the ShitGibbonSwamp, passes this enormous pandemic relief package, and then says that they are going on recess for 3 weeks.

Which means the House cannot engage them in negotiations on resolving the final bill, so it is blackmail: pass this thing as-is or we will blame you (the Democratic-controlled House) for not getting aid out to the people.

Doubly odd is the fact that the Constitution expressly states that spending bills have to originate in the House, so this is truly fucked up procedure.

I believe that is 'revenue' bills, which as I understand it would be ones that affect taxes. Pretty much any bill is going to cause some spending, after all.

Won't help. The House recessed last week with no definite plans of reconvening.

No, their are plenty of bills that do not involve spending. Passing specific laws, for instance, are not spending bills. Or declaring national bucket of sand day.

You know, when Republicans were bleating a few years ago about Death Panels, I just thought they were engaging in idiotic hyperbole.

I did not even suspect that what they were mad about was that THEY wanted to host the death panels, to improve the stock market.

What do you know, Glenn Beck says he'd rather die. I'm sure there are plenty of peole who share that sentiment; they'd rather Beck die too.

And the clown that says he has a hunch about science and medicine continues to spread conspiracy BS:

Quote:
Trump, who has publicly been at odds with Cuomo about the responsibility of the federal government during the coronavirus outbreak, appeared on Fox News during a two-hour town hall on the pandemic. During the telecast, Trump grabbed a piece of paper and rattled off the headline: “NY Gov. Cuomo Rejected Buying Recommended 16,000 Ventilators in 2015 for Pandemic, Established Death Panels and Lottery Instead.”

And after weeks of disseminating misinformation, snapping at reporters who ask him reasonable and even softball questions, whining that he gets no credit, refusing to listen to the experts, touting dangerous miracle "cures," blaming Obama, Pelosi, and any other Dem he can think of, and refusing to take any constructive action*, Trump's approval ratings are at an all-time high, with a majority of Americans approving of his handling of this crisis in particular.

I give up trying to understand people.

* To be fair, he did restrict travel with China, as he reminds us every five minutes. But that's a blind squirrel finding a nut, since closing borders has been his answer to everything since 2015. He's like a kid with a coloring book that colors everything on the page green, and then wants credit for getting the grass right. "I was one of the first to color the grass green. A lot of botanists ask me, how do you know so much about grass? I'm a very stable genius."

Well, he did tell everyone that the country is going to loosen up and get back to work soon, so he has given people reason for optimism. Of course, by May, when fatalities are steadily in the 3~500 range per day, I can imagine that his numbers might start steadily sagging. This truly does seem to be his ultimate kobiyashi-mar-a-lago.
