Coldfire, I have come to believe that Los Angeles is true center of Doper Love -- congratulations to both of you!

Where in Vegas did you get married?

Thank you! We got married at The Little Church of the West. The oldest chapel in Vegas - 1942, you know!

I am familiar, as that is exactly where my Dope-found wife and I got married. Awesome!

Well, I had a milestone back in January when I got engaged to a magnificent partner, whom I had been dating for a year. We both have our own boys, hers is 8 and mine is 3, and we just finished moving in together 2 weeks ago. We are planning on getting married 'formally' next fall.

Both of us had kind of crappy co-parents, and we thought how great it would have been to have our children together. Another child was not in the plan, though, because the thought of starting over with an infant in my late 30's didn't seem optimal.

Found out yesterday that hey, change of plans! She's pregnant! Actually I've been pretty sure for a week, all the signs were there..now it's just official

I'm not one of those "Everything happens for a reason" types, but I have been trying to change jobs...and since I haven't, I have 6 weeks of sick time on the books I can take when New Kid is born. I actually got two rejections back-to-back yesterday afternoon. Thanks! I need to stay put, anyway!

So now it's just "OMG! Gotta figure out how we're going to do this!"

It's very hard today not to blab, but we haven't even been to the Dr. yet.

Hey, I became a dad at age 55, and it's working out great. Late 30s is nothing, people become parents all the time at that age.

Congratulations!!

Ah! I have a good one. I got my grades back and I have straight A's this semester, in all three courses! That makes my GPA for the semester a lovely 4.0 and for the year, about a 3.95 (two A- last semester.)

Woot!

That is a good one - congrats! ETA: What do you want to be when you grow up?

In one week, it will be 31 years for the Lovely and Talented Mrs. Shodan and myself. To celebrate, we may stay up past 8:30pm.

Regards,
Shodan

Happy (early) Anniverary, Shodan and Mrs. Shodan!

May of 93 was a good month to get married. My two friends who also got married that month are all still together with their husbands. Among us, we have 60 yrs of marriage.

Happy Anniversary, Suburban Plankton! (why yes, I do call him that at home )

Supposedly Vince Lombardi got into bed with his wife one winter's night.

She said, "Jesus Christ, your feet are cold!"

Vince responded, "My dear, in bed you can call me Vince."

Yesterday, my number one child graduated high school with honors (top 20% of her class). She will attend Washington University in St Louis.

Very proud papa.

On March 29th, my son said to my boyfriend at dinnertime that he should stay to eat with us, since he is pretty much one of the family now. It touched bf so much that the asked me later to make note of the date. We joked that our fledgling relationship became "official" then. Last night, he asked me to marry him, and we will make it officially official on March 29th of next year.

This weekend, my 20 year old daughter is graduating from High School. She has ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Learning Disabilities. She hated school. The entire thing was a slog through molasses.

Sunday, she will be presented with her diploma. I am so proud of her I could (will) cry.

Me too. Fuckin' allergies

A year late (because I never saw this thread before - newly stickied?) my son Dweezil graduated from high school. When he was not-quite-3, a doctor told me that it was not terribly likely that this would happen (my son is autistic). My mantra for the next nearly-15 years was "fuck you, Doctor P-----".

Just this past week I registered for classes at my local community college. This is the first baby-step toward my newfound ultimate goal of becoming a dentist.

This means I'm taking a chemistry class for the first time in ten years. I'm terrified, but serious.

This. Again. I cannot conceive of what this path has been for you and your family, Indyellen. Sweet moments like this get re-run for the rest of your life inside of your mind and never lose their sweetness. A glorious achievement for all.
