Misheard: She said meet me in the garden I've got salmon in my ear

Actual lyric: She said meet me in the Garden of Gethsemene my dear

Saturday I was reminded of this one:

Hold The Line -- Toto

Lyrics: Hold the line. Love isn't always on time
Misheard lyrics: Toe the line. Love is a four-way zone time.

I just today learned what Edgar Winter sings after "Come on and take a Free Ride..."

Actual lyrics: Come on and sit here by my side
I've always heard: Come on and set your mind aside

I kind of like my line better.

There's a new Halsey song that, to my ears, has her singing

"How you gonna like it, sucking on dick?"

Obviously, that's not what's being sung.

Recently I was wondering when a misheard lyrics thread would resurface, and here it is. Cool.

I'd like to add:
'Alex Chilton' by the Replacements
Actual - "Cerebral rape and pillage in a village of his choice"
Misheard - "We will rape and pillage in a village of his choice" -- sounded cooler anyway...

'Riders On The Storm' by The Doors
Actual - "Sweet memory will die" -- I think this was discussed a number of months back, along with the squirming toad..
Misheard - "Sweet Emily will die" - (amusingly, the first lyrics site I searched for had "Sweet family will die")

And since this is supposed to be "personal" mondegreen,

'Panama' - Van Halen
Actual - "you reach down, between my legs, ease the seat back"
Misheard - "you reach down, between my legs, ease the seed bag" - This seemed more Dave's style anyway...

It embarrassingly took a few years for me to realize that Elton John in "Saturday Night's All Right" was shouting out "She's With Me", not "Sympathy"...

First heard A Chorus Line in high school. The song "I Can Do That" has this part:

I'm watchin' Sis go pitterpat.
Said, "I can do that, I can do that."

I apparently missed all the subsequent references to his sister in the song and ignorantly though he was referring to some dancer he was watching on TV named Cisco.

Went so far as to name a character in a play I wrote a year or so later after this nonexistent person.

Somehow, Peaches by The Stranglers came up in conversation today.

Lyrics: Is she tryin' to get outta that Clitares?
Misheard lyrics: Is she tryin' to get outta that clitoris?

The confusion between the French bathing suit and a part of the female anatomy was intentional on The Stranglers' part. I never knew I'd been whooshed until this morning.

Just found out that the Vapors are singing "Live at the Marquee." All this time I thought it was "laugh at the monkey."

When I was a kid, I thought Peter Gabriel's Shock the Monkey was about a monkey named Jacques.

I learned this weekend that the 1978 song by Sniff 'n' the Tears is not "Travesty." Rather, it is "Driver's Seat."

I also learned that Sly and the Family Stone's hit in 1969 is not "Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself" but is "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)."

If I hear "What You Need" by INXS I have to remind myself that Michael is singing,

This is what you need, I'll give you what you need.

Because what I hear is,

Keep a watchin' me, keep a watchin' me.

Not a particularly interesting one, but I just 5 minutes ago watching lyrics on you tube for random songs did I learn that the Eye of the Tiger is the "Cream of the fight" not the "Thrill of the fight"

Unless you're whooshing us, couldn't it be the person who typed the lyrics who got it wrong? Because I hear "thrill" too.

That reminds me, in the 80's it was a couple of years after "Animal" by Def Leppard that I learned it's, "... And I lust Animal." and not "... And I love Animal."
