Margaret Atwood: The Testaments -- sequel to The Handmaid's Tale.

In the 2019 September 6 edition of MacLean's, Brian Bethune gives a tantalizing preview of Margaret Atwood's The Testaments that is coming out on the 9th: "Margaret Atwood’s urgent new tale of Gilead: in her much-anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, the renowned author takes her anti-woman dystopia to the age of Trump."

The article does an excellent job of briefly pointing out some of what Atwood's life as a feminist author has brought to The Testaments, and how the rise of Trump triggered The Handmaid's Tale sequel.

For long-time fans of Atwood, you'll find yourself murmuring "yes . . . uh-huh . . . yep" as Bethune winds together glimpses of her and references to her oeuvre.

For folks who have been enjoying the TV show, hopefully this will encourage you to read The Handmaid's Tale, the soon to be released The Testaments, and many of her previous works, for the depth of her writings is masterfully subtle, complex and ultimately powerful.
Hour after hour, day after day, we paddled and sang and slept under the hot sun on the northern ocean, wanting never to return.
