Nice! I've been waiting for that to drop on Steam (my ipad can't run it).

Killing Floor 2 is up for a free weekend on Steam.

If you are a fan of Left for Dead you will probably like this. It is a different game with little in common but a good metric nonetheless.

Give it a go. It's free for the next 2.5 days.

I've only just played it and at least at the outset it is confusing and I died a few times and generally find it a little bewildering (including how to find a game I want). Still...I had fun and as with many such things there is a bit of a learning curve.

Missed the edit window:

The game is a lot of fun. I am not sure how much longevity it has (e.g. how long you can play it before becoming bored but while it lasts it's a lot of fun [think Evolve]).

It is still early access for the game but the original Killing Floor kept a consistent following so maybe it will not follow the path of Evolve or Titanfall.

No telling yet but a free weekend is free, the download is like 7GB so not bad at all and it is fun.

Have a go.

Commander And Conquer Red Alert 2 is free on Origin

This one is WELL worth getting.

It is old to be sure but it is iconic and still fun to play. When it is free...why not?

I still pine for the cheesy cut scenes Red Alert pulled off. I miss those.

Darkest Dungeon and Depth are on sale on Steam this weekend; the former is a roguelike that plays like Final Fantasy, and the latter is a fun asymmetric sharks vs. divers game that I've enjoyed playing with some of the gang.

Vertiginous Golf, a steam punk minigolf game, is free to keep if you click install (don't actually have to install it, it'll say added to library) today.

A remastered version of Shadow Complex is free until January 1st. It's a platformer/shooter with some puzzles. Not my mix of genres at all but I downloaded and played it a bit. Not bad. I can't get some item that the map says is in a room, though, and got frustrated.

Apparently Rainbow 6 Siege is having a semi-free weekend. If you own the game, you can get 4 temporary keys that you can give to friends to try the game this weekend. Kind of convoluted. But if anyone owns the game, can you throw me a key? I'm interested in trying the game.

It's a metroidvania - just because something's in the room, doesn't mean you can get it the first, or even the third time through. Probably you need a required piece of equipment you don't have yet. (not to mention at least a few of them are actually accessed from a neighboring room.

Fractured Space is free if you install it on steam this weekend. Not sure if it's any good, but the concept seems cool. Basically a space MOBA with capital ships as the heroes.

Free to play for the weekend only. You'd need to purchase it if you want to play past Sunday.

No, I think it's a limited time opportunity to get the game for free and keep it if you "purchase it" during the weekend. I think it's the way they inject players into the beta for their game.

If you bought an AMD processor or graphic card semi-recently, you might be entitled to a free game:

Quote:
https://www.amd4u.com/amdgamepromo/

You'll need ONE of the components in the link below and then sign in and download the validation tool.

List of components eligible: http://pastebin.com/gg0zvGrB
https://www.amd4u.com/amdgamepromo/f...mePromo_TC.pdf

Games available:

Far Cry 3 Uplay
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Uplay
Dirt 3 Steam
Saints Row IV Steam
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Steam
Guacamelee Steam
Lego Batman 3 Steam
Napoleon - Total War Steam
Sid Meier's Beyond Earth Steam
DiRT Rally Steam
Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack Steam
DYAD Steam
Space Run Steam
I ran the verification tool with my R9 290X that I've owned for a while and came up eligible. Got a free copy of Beyond Earth out of it (owned most of the other stuff). This is separate from the AMD game+card bundles -- I had already redeemed the free copy of Dirt Rally that came with the card. Just a sorta random free game from AMD.

3 free weekend/open betas this weekend.

Rainbow 6 siege which you can do on steam or uplay (steam may need a restart to show up in your library)

Doom 4 mp beta

And gearbox's shooter/moba battleborn

I'll try all the games over this weekend but in particular I'm probably going to organize some R6 siege games because it's a lot of fun to play with people you know.

Overwatch open beta this weekend. I haven't played it but it's advertised as kind of a TF2-style class based shooter. Free now until Monday. Worth taking a look, you need the battle.net client to get it.

I've been getting a bit of play out of a freebie game on Steam called Endless Sky. It's genuinely free, not free to play or free base game with pay DLC. One of the attractions is that it's easy to mod. Reminds me of the BBS game Trade Wars, but single player only. I like it because it's relaxing (that is, not hard at all and if you do run into trouble, it has autosave).
