King of the USA threads in "Great Debates"?

Really? Come on, we can do better than this. If people wanna yank our chain in Mundane Pointless Stuff or IMHO forums, I've got no problem with that - we have yank cranker forums. But Great Debates is where, in theory, great minds should meet, and that's just a total shit-ass thread and people here know that.

Meh, it was fun for a time, and a bit of an indulgence.

God forbid it isn’t all serious. More importantly, he posits his kingship of America, a position he expects might generate opinions in opposition to his opening statement. How this that not a GD thread? Just because the subject isn’t serious enough?

Well, yeah. What you described are the requirements for IMHO. GD, aka Great Debates, is the forum for serious topics, "the great questions of our time," along with "witnessing" and "religious debates." That's the difference between it and IMHO, which is far more casual.

Witnessing for what exactly?

The thread should have been moved at the first report.

In the unlikely event he starts another like that, break out the instaban hammer.

For what? He made that whitehouse.gov petition the same day that he posted here, but he never posted his screed anywhere else. The actual claim is incoherent and easily refuted even by CT standards. The numerology based off of the painting's informational pamphlet was particularly migraine-inducing.

The whole thing reads like somebody playing at being a conspiracy theorist and not doing a great job.

Owner: ...It was a pun.
Mr. Praline: (pause) A PUN?!?
Owner: No, no...not a pun...What's that thing that spells the same backwards as forwards?
Mr. Praline: (Long pause) A palindrome...?

I saw the link to whitehouse.gov. I thought it was more humorous than anything and thought, lighten up, Francis.

Exactly. It was a fun thread, but there is no way it belonged in GD. I figured that it was only a matter of time before it was shut down. It was fun while it lasted and thanks to the mods for indulging us as long as they did.

Only if posters stop requiring them.

As the moderators well know, there are a bunch of oft-reported trolls still allowed to post here who should get their long-overdue banning. Those who willfully pollute the boards should be shut down, like any other polluters of the environment.

Maybe we could implement a cap and trade system, where there is a threshold for trolling, but people who come below the troll limit can sell credits to more trollish members.
