Will This Social Distancing Become A "New Norm"?

Hopefully it works to slow or stop the spread.

I was thinking, so what next?

In the past 20 years we had two other major outbreaks SARS and MERS, neither which affected the US in a major way.

So I was wondering the next time this happen. What will the reaction be? I guess it depends on the success of this time.

But will we lockdown much, much sooner? If so what if it's like SARS or MERS, something that didn't affect the US much?

Will the economy have to adjust the way it works if this is the new norm?

(this may not be the right forum, so mods please move if necessary)

What do you mean? Are people going to maintain 6 feet around them? No. Completely impractical after a "back to work" order is issued.

Are people going to remain homebodies forever? Well, some might, but I don't think a lot of people will, other than the people who were homebodies before this.

I think the longest term hit of this is people are going to be more reluctant to go to concerts/movies/restaurants than they were before, but I think even that will clear up within 6 months of this blowing over.

Ditto.

But I think elbow bumps will become a lot more popular. Wikipedia says they've been around since 1969, but I can't remember seeing them until a year or two ago, and even then, mostly among people who were ill. But I think it has picked up a lot of traction lately, and just might become mainstream.
