First week of July in Fort Lauderdale. After burning at the beach then what?

Mrs San and I are spending 1st five days of July in Ft. Lauderdale. After we burned our lily white bodies on the beach since its been too cool to dress lightly around here, what do we do the next day? Orlando is not an option.
We don't casino or gamble. Really don't feel like driving much except for possibly a day trip to the Keys. We are staying with my sister so I am sure she has ideas too like why would I want to go to Naples? We've both did Everglade boat rides many years ago. She isn't in to Cape Canaveral and I've already been there. What 4th of July must see is there? We leave the next AM so a really late night event is a no go.

If Orlando is out because of the distance and you're doing the Keys, don't do Key West either because it is a longer drive than Kissimmee.

This is more advice and opinion than factual, so let's move it to IMHO (from GQ).

Beyond shopping, eating and burning I would track down and explore the local historical buildings, parks, take an Intracoastal cruises (Jungle queen river cruise). Cruise S on A1A find a lunch spot in Dania or Hollywood ( Le Tub for atmosphere and good burgers) Go west on Hollywood Blvd, race around the traffic circles To US 441 go N check out at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood they’re just about done with their guitar shaped hotel.

Miami Beach is a day trip the keys are too far. Go North to Jupiter and beyond.

Really good burger place, Jack's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, if you're looking for something to eat and you like burgers.

It's not the distance. She's already spent a week there in the recent past and we won't have more than a day or two available. It is an "Orlando is a destination not a side trip" type decision.

Usually after I get sunburned I just lay in bed for a few days exhausted.

Anyway if you're into boats, there is a lot of neat Kayaking near Orlando, the spring-fed rivers are cold and clear, lots of plants on the sides, and you can see manatees: https://www.adventuresinflorida.com/...atee-encounter
