If guns were outlawed, only outlaws would accidentally shoot their children.

I believe it is in the preamble to the Declaration of Independence where it explicitly states, " y'all ain't the boss of me".

Isn't this the same state that just made it easier for teachers to carry guns? BRILLIANT!!

Seconded. Modern handguns go off one way, someone put his booger hook on the bang switch.

Not sure who originated it, but it's actually a quite popular phrase among gun nuts firearms aficionados. Guns don't just "go off"; certainly modern guns don't. Not even if you drop them.

No, they don't. I'll wait for an official ruling on the cause, but for now, it sounds like somebody's lying.

Parents still letting kids get to the guns.

A Georgia girl has died after her 4-year-old brother accidentally shot her, authorities say
Quote:
The boy took a gun from the car's console and accidentally fired it while his mother was outside, striking his sister in the head, the sheriff's office said.
But the parents feel bad, so no sense charging them with anything.

12-year-old charged with murder in shooting death of 10-year-old sibling in Texas

The parents feel bad.....but they will charge the child.

It's good to see these parents kept their guns cocked with a round in the chamber. Some libtards are so ignorant they've suggested uncocking guns in certain situations.

While these children were Standing their Ground, two robbers and a drunk were shot dead over in the Positive thread. It balances out: the woman may have lost a child but her purse wasn't stolen. Wasn't it Benjamin Franklin who said "Better that a hundred kids die accidentally than that a purse-snatcher not be shot dead"?

Another school shooting today, this time in a suburb near Denver. One dead, seven wounded. Another line of kids evacuating their school with their hands over their heads so the cops know they're not armed.

Ho hum. Another day in the greatest country on earth.

Odd how the Safe Space thread still has nothing about how this brave young man, simply exercising his Constitutional Carry rights in a public space, was tragically killed defending his gun from a Spanish-surnamed gun grabber. Yet another tragic martyr for the Second Amendment.

Guns are your concern? Are we supposed to be sending our thoughts & prayers to the guns now?

It's OK. Catching when someone is sarcastic is a skill not everyone has, and sometimes sarcasm doesn't come across as easily on the Internet.

Oh, wait, this is the Pit. I should say something rude. Nuts!

Yet another gun that fires if you drop it: Cobra Firearms Derringer.

From some other internet forum thingy:
Quote:
Cobra derringers: (a long setup to a good question, please bear with me)

When the hammer is in the neutral, uncocked position, the hammer rests on the firing pin, and can discharge if dropped or there is any impact.

If the gun is half-cocked, the firing pin does not rest on the firing pin.

When half-cocked from the neutral position, the gun will NOT fire if trigger is pulled.

BUT, when put in half cock from the fully cocked position MIGHT FIRE if trigger is pulled. (sometimes... you derringer guys know what I mean, there's a nitch that the hammers fall into, where they fire when they're technically not supposed to, I've seen this on Cobras, NAAs, and a few other brands)

Now, the gun needs to be half-cocked for the safety to be on, and the manufacturer recommends to carry half-cocked, with safety on.

HOWEVER, for faster draw for SD, many carry on half cock from the neutral position, without the safety on, since the gun will not fire, even though the safety is not on (If you've practiced drawing one, you know what I mean... Hitting the safety button adds a whole other step to the draw)...

I have a theory that the reason that the manufacturer recommends that the gun should be carried with safety on is that, perhaps they are accounting for human error, through which one can get mixed up between half-cocked from neutral, in which the gun cannot be fired, and half-cocked from the firing position, in which the gun can be fired... But my theory might be wrong...

FINALLY, THE QUESTION:
Has anyone experienced a misfire from this gun, when the hammer was half-cocked from the neutral position, and the safety off???
to which someone else replied
Quote:
Carrying most guns on half cock is ill advised. If the gun is dropped the half cock notch can shear off allowing the gun to fire. Owing to the "quality" nature of the Cobra guns, I suggest using the safety.
And another
Quote:
When the hammer is in the neutral, uncocked position, the hammer rests on the firing pin, and can discharge if dropped or there is any impact.
and
Quote:
30 Years back a friend of mine dropped her Derringer (RG id I remember right) I was hammer down It fired and she took a 38 spl in her side. . These thing are dangerous If you must carry one carry 1/2 cock safety on.
In short - don't drop your derringer.

Well this is a bunch of fucking bullshit:
Quote:
The wife said she was afraid she'd be arrested. But the report explained why she faces no charges.

“Lillian’s actions did not have intent to cause harm to her husband,” the deputy wrote.

The case was classified as an “accidental injury” and closed.

Fuck that. Negligence. Putting the public in danger. Actually causing a serious injury. Totally unforeseeable, I'm sure she and the deputy will agree. Oh and let's not forget that she obstructed the investigation by rushing her purse out to her car and then remaining mum.

Not negligence, Snowboarder Bo, but rather "Callous Disregard". Also, "totally foreseeable", not "unforeseeable". As I'm fond of saying, this wasn't an accident' it was an inevitable.

8-year-old finds gun at baseball game, shoots his mother.
Quote:
The child had been playing in a vintage World War II jeep on display at the stadium as part of a Veterans Appreciation Day, according to the Millington Police Department.

The child found an unsecured handgun inside the vehicle and thought it was a toy. The child picked up the gun and pulled the trigger, firing a round that struck the mother, police said.

You never know when you might need to throw down at a college baseball game. The guy's only mistake was leaving it in his vehicle instead of carrying it in some kind of Tactical Quick Draw Ballistic Holster. Hopefully proper carrying techniques will be addressed at his militia's next training muster.

What kind of gun was it? Is an 8 year-old likely to know how to cock a gun, or switch the safety off?

But I've been instructed by the Board's gun-slingers that only ignorant libtards fail to keep a round in the chamber at all times. We should feel proud that this 76-year old was ready to stop, without a second's delay, the Islamic Nicaraguans crossing into Tennessee.

Quote:
... the unsecured gun belonged to 76-year-old Charles McFarland, who was subsequently charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. No bond has been set at this time, police said.

It's never the gunowner's fault

A woman commenting the police department’s Facebook statement said McFarland is a “sweet man” whose museum delighted her children.

“I agree that Mr. McFarland should have used more thought to his actions but why aren’t we ever holding parents responsible for the supervision and training of the child?” she wrote. “I hate this for Mr. McFarland to be made out to be such a bad guy. He is so kind and thoughtful.”

It's pretty sad when the comedy sites are the ones with the best journalism these days. For example, Cracked has this wonderful bit about the NRA. Number 4 (They Don't Care About Black Gun Owners) is quite interesting.

Wow. It's not enough that America's children are now subject to gun massacre drills. Now parents are expected to follow their kids around at all times in case a cocked gun has been left lying unattended!

I hope someone posts in the "Guns give me an orgasm" thread to find out what the idiots think about this view.
