It appears I never came back to the thread to give my reaction to the episode. Which probably speaks to its quality and, indeed, the quality of these recent episodes. It wasn't bad but neither was it particularly good. It was mediocre, predictable and ultimately forgettable. What a snoozefest

It looks like the writers have run out of ideas for what happens for what happens in the present timeline. I mean, they still have to resolve what's going on with Emiko, but other than that, there's nothing going on. And so they're focusing on what will happen in the future. These flash forwards haven't really served the show very well, as they're promising a craptastic future to look forward to.

The final scene implied that Emiko was behind the sinking of The Queen's Gambit. This brings up the question of where she's been hiding all these years since Oliver came back. Wouldn't she at least try to claim her inheritance as illegitimate daughter of Robert?

She also seems to be bossing Dante around now, a switch from their previous relationship. What have the two of them, and their mysterious organization, been doing all this time? You'd think they'd at least come out to counter Damien Darhk, as blowing up the world in nuclear hellfire seems to be antithetical to their mission statement.

This was actually a pretty good female-led episode, with no self-congratulatory #feminism nonsense (I'm looking at you, Flash). I thought they would contrive some sort of lead-in on Legends to get Sara off the Waverider but, nope, she goes straight from Bollywood to her White Canary outfit. She still kicked the most ass out of all the Birds of Prey and we got the salmon ladder to boot.

One thing this episode has highlighted more than most is that Oliver has become increasingly irrelevant in his own show. He's not in any of the flash forwards, and his side trip with Diggle didn't tell us anything we didn't already know - that Dante is still around pulling the strings. It really is time for the show to wrap up.

I don't know what you're talking about. I counted two inspiring feminist speeches and loved it.

Carmel Amit's Shadow Thief suit fit her very well.

Biggest surprise this episode was that Felicity wasn't/won't be the one who (will) release(d) the Archer program to SkyNet Star City. It's (going to be) Felicity's friend Alena, isn't it?

Diggle's stepfather is General Stewart. If he had adapted his stepfather's surname, then he would have been John Stewart.

Oliver and Roy (and Dinah) dropped several random mooks before encountering the guards, yet the SCPD only cared about the latter?

I don't think thge Mooks were KILLED, just dispatched.

When we say Roy rage, I did think Mira-Kuru, but the lazaras Pit made perfect sense.
There were no future scenes

This latest episode was weird and I really didn't like it. They parachuted in Harper for no apparent reason and used him for a plot that made no sense. It was kind of painful to watch. Arrow has overall presented challenging complex plots with plenty darkness, but at least until now it has stayed pretty coherent. This last episode, though, doesn't fit with the season's plot arc and doesn't advance any of the story, in addition to being depressing and frustrating. They've stuck themselves into a problem that will be hard to pull out of and isn't even interesting, and now their moral compass is completely out of whack.

The future segments seriously undermine any dramatic tension for what we see in the present. Case in point: we've already seen Roy in the future, hale and hearty. So when present Roy jumped into a cloud of benzene, we already knew that he was going to make it.

The bigger problem is that, by showing us a craptastic fate for Star City, the flash forwards have undermined the entire series. Oliver's fight against crime and corruption will have come to naught, and the Archer program is going to throw a blanket of anti-vigilante oppression over the city. In other words, Oliver will have failed this city.

Not the series finale, there is a 10 episode season 8. Guess Oliver has an excuse for not saving the city -- he's off saving the Multiverse. Will SA be in season 8?
According to IMDB no more Felicity.

This certainly felt like a series finale, didn't it? The central character is leaving, so let's all say goodbye. I'm talking about Felicity, not that guy who occasionally shoots arrows.

So is next season going to Oliver Queen ... IN SPAAAACE?
